ok so may not be patient here, as know can take a while. Am 55 and no periods for over a year, and only menopause symptoms were incredibly intense hot sweats, which had for 5 years and racing heart at night.
Fab GP did full bloods, decided to try HRT on oestrogel pump in morn 80g of 0.06 gel and 100 mg progesterone tablets at night.
Just feel really nauseous, I read its a side effect, but anyone else get that, how long til it passed?
I have only been on tthis for 2 and a half weeks, but not sure whats worse continuing with hot sweats or feeling icky!!
Thanks everyone x

The nausea may pass, it does with some women. Has it been like this from when you started taking it or just recent days?
Some insert the capsules vaginally on a night, there's lots of info available if you look on other sites like Menopause Matters. It is absorbed locally bypassing the digestive system so may help minimise side effects. Administration isn't licensed this way but many meno experts recommend it if side effects are a problem. It is absorbed within 30mins apparently.

Just to add I'm not suggesting you just start changing administration without consultation, rather suggest it to your health care provider with evidence from Dr Newson's site and see if your Dr agrees for you to try it vaginally.

It can take up to 3 months for new HRT to settle so a couple of weeks is a bit soon. It's the progesterone that's make you feel nauseous, taking it orally just doesn't suit some women. If you decide that you can't put up with it maybe talk to your GP about swapping to a combined patch or a mirena if you want to carry on with the gel.

As PP says the way around the nausea is to use the Utrogestan vaginally. OR it may be the gel - it made me have a morning sickness feeling at first.

I think you have got your daily dose skewed in your post! :)

The dose is 2 pumps. Each squirt is 0.75 mcgs. So 2 squirts is 1.5 mcgs.

The entire bottle is 80gms and that includes the gel base the estrogen is in.

You could try using 1 pump am and 1 pump pm. That's what I do. For me, it stopped the nausea.

thanks everyone. Yes checked with gp,as had asked for low dose, what im on is correct, just looking forward to nausea passing, guess looking for reassurance it does and how long it takes! x
otherwise coming off it, definitely opt for hot sweats instead ! x
