A week of really bad sleep/barely getting through the day followed by a week of decent sleep and feeling hyperactive?

Does anyone else have this? I've noticed that even though my periods can be anything up to 8 weeks apart, my sleep/ability to function pretty much follows a four-week cycle. 1 week ok sleep (not brilliant, maybe 6 hours), 1 week appalling sleep (4-5 hours), 1 week brilliant sleep then 1 week on the decline again.
I'm fine in that during the brilliant week I am almost hyperactive: I will feel as though my heart is racing (but it isn't), I'll have manic need to be busy and productive and will feel almost hyper-aware or sensitive. Really hard to describe but it's a bit like when your ears pop after being blocked, like I hear and feel everything a bit too much in that week.
Does anyone else get this? In a way it's great as I achieve more in that week than the rest of the month but It's also exhausting and quite hard for family to deal with, when the previous week I'd have been dragging myself around unable to even have conversation because I'm so tired.

I am in the process of reading up on HRT before seeing the GO so it would be great to see if anyone has that particular issue that was eased once on the hormones Smile.

Bumping this as I'm also interested! Anyone?

Hope this improves for you, OP.

I get this! Love the feeling in the hyperactive week though I have to watch myself as I can get a bit over-confident. Then I get anxious and stressed in my bad week.

CatNamedEaster · 23/08/2021 20:47

Only just come back to this as It's a good week at the moment so I've been cooking, gardening and socialising like my life depends on it.Grin

Maybe I need to take a leaf out of your book and pace myself a bit in the hope that I'll keep a bit more energy in the downward week....but it's so hard because the hyperactive week is so brilliant and it's so inspiring to see something that I've managed to achieve.

I have this, glad I am not going mad.

And me, week or running around manic and then a week of utter fatigue and can barely keep my eyes open. Hate the latter

BumbleNova · 23/08/2021 21:17

Yes me too! The feeling bullet proof followed by barely functioning.

I recognise the sensations of hyperactivity / slight euphoria etc followed by a slump, and I’m perimenopausal, but I also have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. It’s interesting to wonder what is caused by what.
