HRT at 39....

So recently paid to get a private appointment for a menopause clinic as for past 12 months have had hot flushes at night, bad headaches / neck aches, awful light headedness, tinnitus, fatigue, palpitations and racing heart. It all gets ten times worse around my period and I am actually dreading my next one in 14 days.
Was advised to start HRT as sound perimenopausal and have had a week of Oestrogel but haven't noticed any change yet.
I just feel so young to be on HRT and just need to hear some success stories and how long it took people to improve and whether I am doing the right thing. Maybe I should add anxiety to my list of symptoms!!!

Sorry I don't have any answers for you yet but jumping on because I've finally been given a prescription for HRT at 45 after feeling so awful for the past 5-6 years. It took many appointments and a different doctor who said "things have moved on"!Hopefully things will go well for both of us. I'd also like to hear others' perspectives.

My GP said around 2 months is when I should expect to notice the difference.
(Hopefully less crying in my experience!)

Oh thank you! My hot sweats have stopped at night which has been welcomed and feeling a lot less anxious. But my aching neck joint and fuzzy head is still there and always gets so much worse on period! Starting the ultragestrone tomorrow and hoping that won't make me feel too low.
2 months sounds doable to cope with!!!
The Dr also said to try going up to 3 squirts of the Oestrogel after 4 weeks if feel I need it.... Don't want to do this though if it is just taking time to build up in my system!

At 39 you should have had blood tests done first to check that you are actually perimenopausal

I'm 35 and two months ago was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure (very early menopause) I was diagnosed via a blood test. I've been on HRT and honestly felt so much better! I have very few hot flushes now, so much for energy, brain fog has completely lifted. I couldn't believe how quickly I started to feel better. Good luck OP x

Thanks for all the messages, a good 5 weeks in and I feel so much better. My headaches are gone, I can think again and my random twitches are getting better as well!
After constant headaches for months it is such a relief...

I started hrt at 42 and I felt better almost immediately.
After 5 months I had no severe symptoms and hrt gave my life back.
I am grateful for it and my only concern is about safety and cancer risks. I am almost 4 years on it.
