How to prevent cancer with Bioidentical hrt

Hi there,
I’ve started 100mg of uterogesten and 25mg of Estraderm which I love at the moment.. I have been on these for a month but I am in fear of cancer. Would anyone know even at this low dose, is it safe enough to take.. I would prefer a Bioidentical cream and I am thinking of taking the serenity progesterone cream with the estraderm.. I didn’t experience too many hot flashes before but I did wake every night with the heat on my chest. I am 51 and after doing full blood tests, have been told I am in menopause and also high cholesterol and low thyroid so it was well worth getting my bloods done.
Thanks
Shelley

Hi ,
Glad to hear your HRT is working well for you.
You need the utrogestan to protect the lining of your womb.
The serenity cream will not do that for you I don’t think. If you have a womb and take Oestrogen, you must take a progesterone of some type. For example the Mirena coil, utrogestan or other synthetic progesterone.

Why do you fear cancer?

Thanks Blitzenandmikey for getting back to me, that makes sense, I will stay in the uterogesten in that case, a friend of mine said her mother thought I was crazy going on bhrt because of the risks.
I think she has made me paranoid but I am only on 25mg of estraderm so it’s minimal. The reason I was going to go on the cream was that the pill has to bypass the liver and that’s what caused the cancer made from horse urine previously. I know that uterogesten is soy so hoping the liver copes better with this. I am also taking milk thistle for the liver. To be honest, it has shown me to keep things a bit more private going forward. I work with a bunch of men so hot flashes do not work well with men. Thanks again Smile

Hi Shelley, no worries.
The utrogestan you are on is body identical and won’t increase any cancer risk. Off license, utrogestan can also be taken vaginally, so no need to bypass the liver at all. It’s perfectly safe to take that way too.

The HRT preparation made from horse urine is Premarin and comes in tablet form. The transdermal patch (and gel and spray) are all body identical and carry very little risk of clots etc.

Keep with your current HRT regime if it works for you and avoid that cream I would. You are on a great progesterone right now 👍👍😀

Thank you so much for that, I feel much happier continuing with these..Do you know much about the estraderm and it’s risks? Thanks again

I don't know much about Estraderm specifically, except it is a brand of transdermal HRT, like Estradot and Evorel.

However, I did find this, which is quite reassuring to read I think file:///C:/Users/mnasr/AppData/Local/Temp/Benefits%20and%20risks%20of%20HRT.pdf

Remember, few things in life are risk free, but what is essential to remember, is the benefits versus the risks and do those benefits outeigh the risks in the long run? :-)
