When to switch from cyclical to continuous HRT

I started having menopausal symptoms age 40. Confirmed peri menopausal with blood tests age 43 and I've been in Femoston 2/10 since then. I'm now 47 and would like not to have periods any more (I know it's not really a period I'm having, it's an oestrogen withdrawal bleed). I can't really find any info on when women can switch to continuous HRT if they have had an early menopause. Everything I've read says they can use continuous HRT when they haven't had a period for a year. But my HRT is giving me a period every month. I'm confused. I asked my GP but she didn't know either. Hope someone here can advise.

There is no right age but most should switch at about 50 for 3 months and if bleeding erratic you can switch back. Usually a sign of too much ovarian reserve. If that does happen then back to cyclical for 12 months before trying again.

Ah ok that sounds reasonable. Thanks @Mam34

Hmm I'm 45 and after being on novofem for a few months (Which gives a withdrawal bleed) the dr put me on kliofem to up the amount of estrogen I was getting. This doesn't give me a withbleed which is great but now I'm wondering should I be taking this? I'm sure if I wasn't taking hrt at all I'd still have periods 🤔

@Eyjafjallajokulldottir I really don't know. It's so difficult to find the information online. My GP didn't really know either as my HRT was started by a consultant in an HRT clinic so she was reluctant to change it.

I just carried on taking cyclical HRT. I felt it was less progesterone

@Bryonyshcmyony I wouldn't mind not having periods. Tampons don't fit as well with me now post pregnancy so would be great not to have to wear them anymore.

Ah. My "period" breaks were very very light
