Perimenopause Study - Secondary School Teachers Participation

4 replies

Posting on behalf of a friend who doesn't really use SM. She is conducting a study for her doctorate into perimenopause and is looking for participants to take part.

*"PERIMENOPAUSE RESEARCH

Call for participants - please join my research on the experiences of secondary school teachers in the UK, or a teacher who has been motivated to decrease their working hours, because of perimenopause.

Would you like to share your experiences and contribute to much needed research on how perimenopausal teachers understand, experience and navigate symptoms? I would love to talk to you! I am a fellow teacher and undertaking research for the Doctorate in Education (EdD). I am on a mission to improve understanding how perimenopause impacts classroom teachers.

Interviews will take place virtually through Zoom or Google Meet and may take around 30-60 minutes.

Email Hayley Cheriton at [email protected] for further information."*

Many thanks!! Thanks*

Ooh this is me. It's a nightmare as a teacher as you cannot leave the room - so you just have to keep teaching through a crazy hot flush with sweat pouring off of you and your heart pounding and your brain on blitz.

@TheHoneyBadger - absolutely!
Hoping that as many women as possible get involved with the study

Hello, possibly me.

I had to reduce to 2 days a week from 3 due to cfs type symptoms when around 38/39 but I now think I was peri menopausal.

Had another baby and felt so much better till the effects of the good hormones wore off. It's not been as bad this time as I took more care of myself but I'm still dealing with certain symptoms that I'm now attributing to peri at 44, but it was actually worse when I was younger. More hot flushes now though!

Given we are mostly women I feel there's absolutely no knowledge of it or discussion, in the work place.

I'm primary though?
