Did you stop HRT before planned surgery?

Just that, I heard from the hospital yesterday that I am booked for surgery on 23rd June. At the consultant appointment he said he was happy for me to continue with my HRT patches. Since then I have developed an allergy to the adhesive and been put on Elleste Duet 2mg tablets.

I have about as much chance of getting through to the doctor’s surgery as winning the lottery, and advice online seems to be mixed. Can anyone help? TIA

The surgery is bunion removal and I will be on crutches for some weeks if that is relevant.

The stopping hrt is because of possible clots.
Most risk of clots is with pelvic and abdominal surgery. I think the standard advice is to stop hrt 6 weeks before surgery so it's too late now anyway for that. You need to talk to the surgeon doing the work- call his PA.

If it helps anyone else, I spoke to my GP this morning and she said 2 weeks off was fine for the surgery I am having and obviously I couldn’t have stopped any sooner as I had only 2 weeks notice. She said I can start it again once I am mobilising well round the house.
