Help! Patches falling off all the time.

I can’t get the patches to stick.

I’m on evorel sequi and if the patch lasts a day I’m doing well. It crinkles, rolls up at the edges and eventually comes away. GP only gives me enough to last a month at a time so it’s not like I can just replace the patch each time it falls off. They’re meant to be replaced at 3 then 4 days so it’s two patches per week.

I was warned not to use a plaster or tape to stick it down, no idea why.

I put it on my upper thigh as it’s smooth and least likely to move a lot compared to my wobbly bum.

Does anyone have any hints as to what I can do to keep the patch on for the right number of days?

I can’t get micronised progesterone so this is apparently the next best thing. 🤷‍♀️

I would try them on your bum, that's where I put mine and they very rarely come off.
Do you use a moisturiser or anything that could lift them?

JuniperBeer · 09/06/2021 23:04

You might wear knickers on your bum though, keeping it in place. Do you wear jeans? Friction won’t help. Have you tried it? Wobblyness won’t affect it. What about your arm?

I couldn’t get on with it on my bum. It just wrinkled and bubbled so it was suggested a thigh was better and it is in the regards that it doesn’t bubble in the middle as quickly.

It says the patch must be placed on lower body so arms are out.

I’m on evorel 100 so not sure if exactly the same. Ensure you don’t apply immediately after a shower/bath or applying cream. Placing them where knickers cover them can help them stay in place. You also need to give yourself a couple of firm slaps (on the patch) to ensure it’s well stuck down. I’ve just started putting them on my upper thigh and seem to be working well. Wearing them while swimming isn’t a great mix and my top tip for removing the adhesive is baby oil.

Try warming them between your hands first?

I had this issue with a different type of patch and it helped

BraxtonChic · 09/06/2021 23:20

I use a different patch (oestrogen only) but I put mine on my lower stomach just below my knicker line. If thats even still my stomach, but not sure what else to call it!

If I put them anywhere else they tend to come off with clothing so I'm sure the knickers help keep them in place.

I've tried a few different patches though and some are stickier than others and some leave more (or less) residue.

Is the Evorel the only brand you can use?

Justilou1 · 09/06/2021 23:24

I had same issue. Swapped to gel. Awesome.

The instructions in my Evorel patches say to put them on lower abdomen. I do this just below my knicker line and they rarely come off.

Moisturiser and talc will stop them sticking properly, even the smallest amount.

I use different patches for ivf and I discovered I needed to put them in places with a bit of body hair for the adhesive to stick to. I found out as I really hated taking them off so experimented with shaving a patch on my thigh and discovered they really wouldn't stay on long at all that way! Think about where you catch your clothes etc as I often catch the corners of mine if they're on the outer thigh when pulling trousers up. Some pants can also want to peel them down when on the bum. I don't know why it's so complicated but it is!

I know back when I used NRT patches, it had to be on flattish bits of me to stay put, so where the lower back meets buttock or back of the shoulder. Arms and thighs were too curved.
