Hello -
Please can any of the more experienced posters help? I've been prescribed this alongside the gel however have been told to take 100mg on days 1-25 of 28 day cycle as an alternative to the two week option. As I still have regular periods and am in peri menopause, will this still give me a normal period? Am confused as to what is better or if at all different! Thank you

The guidance is to use a sequential regime first if you still have periods. Using it daily may stop your natural periods but it may not - that's the point- so you might bleed at odd times.

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells the more I read the More nervous I am about starting. I suffer from PMDD, depression and adhd so I am really worried about how it's all going to affect me... the doctor seemed to think it was an either or and I'm worried she hasn't quite understood the difference.

In principle, it's a good idea to get the level of estrogen sorted first or you can't tell if it's enough, or if the side effects (or whatever) are due to it or the type of progesterone.
If you stick to sequential, you can have 2 weeks on gel and see how it feels.

When I started HRT in very late peri, my consultant chose a 'long cycle regime' which was almost 3 months of estrogen (gel) only, followed by a short course of progesterone.

There is a long cycle type of HRT available as a tablet, called Tridestra (pack) but not often prescribed. If you find what you have does affect your mood too much, it might be worth pursuing that option.
