HRT - evorel sequi patches

Hi

I started the evoral patches a week ago as I was having difficulty sleeping, agitation and anxiety.
I’ve had to stop taking them as they have made my anxiety and agitation a lot worse. I was finding it difficult to sit still and focus on anything.
I’m confused as I was expecting it to make this better or no worse.
I’ve booked another spot with my dr but I can’t get in for another week.
Has anyone else experienced this please?
x

A week is a very short time. It's just possible that your symptoms were getting worse anyway and it's not to do with the patch. Being honest, the amount of estrogen in your body from a patch after a week is tiny.

I doubt your dr can suggest very much other than keep going for a while.
Medical advice is to keep going for 12 weeks to let your body adjust. The only other option is to use a lower dose and gradually build up to a higher dose if needed.

What dose patch is it?

Topsyturveymam · 24/05/2021 08:59

It’s the evorel 50, so 50mgs in 24 hours.
I’ve been feeling symptoms for a while and hadn’t been increasing. Until I put on the patch and it really did change how I was feeling quickly.
I’ll go back to my dr.

I didn't experience this OP, but I think I do remember women on another forum talking about it.

Did you have other menopause symptoms and have they shown any sign of improvement?

Shelbyfizz · 04/07/2021 14:31

Hi
I’ve been in the HRT journey for 18 months tried most varieties but nothing suits. So I thought I’d start again and give these patches ago- wasn’t sure if I’d given them a chance first time around. I’m still peri menopausal and experience lots of rage / feeling hot / constantly eating chocolate/ anxiety etc but started the patch 7 days ago. First two days I was fine and quite excited .. noticed I slept better but the day after I cried 4 times / was very scared and low to the point of feeling the family would be better off without me. Shaky, unsure, just trying to get through the day. Have felt like this for 5 days and I can’t suffer anymore. So I’ve decided to take patch off. Surely we shouldn’t have to feel this low. I’ve read lots of people feel a marked improvement with a week. Please help !

This is the Sequi patch, and you are talking about the oestrogen-only phase?

If you are really, really low with suicidal ideation, you need to speak to a doctor first thing tomorrow (easier said than done I realise), and do what they advise.

I remember taking a similar awful reaction once to a contraceptive pill although I was fine with another pill (both combined pills!)

Have you tried the gel/utrogestan combi?

Shelbyfizz · 04/07/2021 20:52

Hi
Yes it’s the oestrogen only first 2 weeks. I’ve taken it off. I’m ringing the GP tomorrow but think I might go back on premique low dose. I felt ok on them, wasn’t amazing but certainly had no terrible side effects like this! I’ve tried the gel, pessaries, tablets, patches ! I have a progesterone intolerance so struggle to find anything suitable ! Peri menopause is a living nightmare !!

junipertree2 · 04/07/2021 21:01

@Shelbyfizz it certainly does sound that way for you. If you really can't tolerate HRT, I know that GPs will happily prescribe anti-ds for menopause symptoms, particularly flushes and anxiety. We do complain about that a lot on mumsnet, but it might work for you if HRT doesn't.

Shelbyfizz · 04/07/2021 22:10

Yes my middle age GP offered anti depressants the first time I visited her or failing that she suggested “I just put up with it”. I’m so desperate to experience what my other friends going through peri menopause are feeling now they’ve found the right HRT. I’ll see what my GP says. Thanks for your input much appreciated ☺️

Queenie24 · 05/07/2021 18:02

I felt exactly the same way as you did. My gp has said try just a quarter of the patch and see how that goes and we can build up. I’ve not done it yet but will be starting in the next few days.

Shelbyfizz · 05/07/2021 22:00

I feel so much better today. I’m so glad I pulled the patch off ! I suffer from UTI’s due to low oestrogen so I know I need to stay on a HRT. I was taking premique low dose for about a year .. was ok but still lacked energy and zero libido! I’ve found a pack in the cupboard and started this morning 🥴.. I already feel calmer and more like myself 🙌🤞… these are an old fashioned HRT (horse urine variety 😬). Suicidal thoughts have gone so I’m staying on these until my gynae / GP manages to respond to my call - which probably will be in a months time ! Interesting yr GP has suggested halving the patch .. no one has ever said I could do that !

Hello,
Has anyone had pins and needles in feet with hrt patches?
I've been getting this for few weeks now but my doctor has dismissed that it is connected to patches. It is at night time that I am experiencing this. Just wondering if anyone else had same. Thank you

Jules7070 · 11/09/2021 23:36

Anyone ever experienced blood clots on hrt patches? Just started on them last month after GP saying there was no chance of blood clots, then I read the side effects and they have risk of blood clots 🙄….., I had an embolism 3 years ago that nearly killed me so I’m now a tad concerned 😟

Kiwigirl75 · 20/11/2021 23:03

Yes I’ve been experiencing pins/needles in feet and legs. Been feeling really unwell on the progesterone/oestrogen patches.
Even though I have cut back to cutting my patches into halves/ quarters.
Couldn’t tolerate the gel and tablets - gained lots of weight and had a feeling of mania.

Kiwigirl75 · 20/11/2021 23:05

Anyone cut their patches in half? Really want to find a balance or type of HRT that works and struggling. Thanks!

Needadvice21 · 17/02/2022 11:55

I've been on for almost 3 weeks. Sadly period pains, breast tenderness and the most awful cyst/groin pain. I can barely walk. I'm thinking to maybe come off the hrt.....has anyone had something like this?
