For medical reasons can't take HRT. I'm active ( walk miles a day) all of a sudden Im nearly 10 pounds heavier ( and I was probably 20 pounds to heavy to start with). How do I fix this? My diet isn't too bad - cook from scratch and lots of vegetables.... ideas?

Sadly the only way is to reduce calories. Maybe work out your BMR (basic metabolic rate) and use something like My Fitness Pal to track calories in/ calories used. I've found the only way to keep my weight level is to drastically reduce carbs to around 30-50 grams a day.

I log calories rigorously, train fasted and don't start eating until 2pm or so each day. This helps me keep my calories in check - for me breakfast just starts the hunger monster.

To enable me to eat more I exercise vigorously and a lot of that is lifting heavy weights which has many benefits for women our age.

Like JinglingHellsBells I also find that limiting carbs helps.

I agree with Spodge that weightlifting makes a big difference.

Vigorous cardio just makes me crave carbs. Lifting doesn't trigger my appetite and helps me to stay slim.
