Peri menopause and breast pain

Hi,

I’ve just been to my GP as my right breast has been tender for nearly three weeks now. I’m 46. It started before my last period and then just remained whereas normally my breast tenderness goes when I start my period.

Anyway, GP examined me and noted dense tissue on that side which I was already aware of - it is this tissue which is tender to the touch. She says she thinks this is hormonal and asked to see me in four weeks time. She said she isn’t worried and breast pain can be part of hormonal changes after the age of around 45.

Does anyone here have experience of similar?

Thanks

Yes right breast tender just before major peri menopause started. Got checked at GP, she wasn't concerned.

I bought new bras and they help.

Been on HRT patches 6 months and pain almost gone occasionally with cycle now.

Thanks @frozendaisy my periods are starting to be a little different these days, so it looks like I might be heading into peri.

Glad to hear the HRT is helping you 👍🏻

Me too! Had breast pain in right breast for about two months. Had a bumpy area too. Went to GP, not worried but said she would refer anyway.
Doctor at breast clinic said she really didn’t think I had anything to worry about.
Ultrasound showed hormonal cysts.
Pain went after 3 months total. Haven’t had it since.

I am 45

@Barefootinthecarpark I was expecting my GP to refer me I guess, but she didn’t seem to think it necessary. I wonder if she will after I go back in four weeks. It would give me added reassurance I suppose. Interesting that yours was sore for so long then okay. Hormones are so weird.

@newnamenellie

I know! Just bizarre. My peri symptoms seem to arrive (domes quite alarmingly), stay for a few weeks/months, then disappear again. Something awful always comes along to take its place!
Doctor at breast clinic advised high dose evening primrose oil.
GP also advised doing to chin/nose/forehead test.
Chin tissue- soft a squidgy like a normal breast, nose- firmer like a breast cyst, forehead- hard and something to be investigated if you feel something as hard in your breast.
