Hi has anyone been able to try Lenzetto spray? My gp says she can't prescribe it.

Anyone?

What reason did she give you?

iminthegarden · 09/04/2021 16:19

It wasn't yet available on the NHS

It is.

A quick google shows plenty of NHS trusts offering it. Have a look.

Maybe she means they don't want to give it to you as it's more expensive than equivalent patches or gels.

Is there any reason why yo would prefer it to Oestrogel?

iminthegarden · 09/04/2021 21:46

I'm on estrogel but find it pretty messy and inner arm and inner thigh are not the most practical I think the forearm spray would be easier. GP said I could get it through a specialist but she couldn't prescribe it.

I'm on lenzetto prescribed by my GP 🤔 so it is definitely available on the NHS

iminthegarden · 10/04/2021 02:28

That's good to hear, perhaps I'll ask again. How are you finding it?

@iminthegarden

The way to apply it is outer upper arm/backs of arms and shoulders, or mid inner thigh. Avoid inner upper arm as close to breasts.

I've used it for over 12 years. If you use 2 pumps it might be easier to apply 1 pump morning and bedtime. That way you only apply half a pump to each thigh/ arm . I find that amount dries in seconds.

Be aware also that Lenzetto is a slightly different type of estrogen- some posts on Menopause matters from women using it found they didn't l ike it as much (and as a by the way they'd been using it for a few months so it is available.)

iminthegarden · 10/04/2021 09:03

Sorry yes i meant outer arm and shoulders. Still seems close to breasts though. Lenzetto seems more straight forward, I'm also getting more dark skin spots on my upper arms since using it but I think that could be estrogen in general as I had an increase with ivf/pregnancy. I haven't seen any comments about lenzetto being different. I'll have a look

Sorry for the delayed reply. I absolutely love the stuff. I was on patches up until last year but they became impossible to get hold of so GP switched me onto lenzetto which I actually prefer. I spray it on my inner thigh and haven't had any negative side effects. But it has dramatically reduced my menopausal symptoms, nearly every one has gone, even little niggles that I didn't even realise were hormonal! I hope you have some luck getting a prescription, it's so bloody frustrating that we have to fight for these things

iminthegarden · 24/04/2021 08:04

Thank you. I'm going to see someone again privately and will see if they can prescribe for me or make my GP get it. The gel has been working well for me, I just find it messy and is possibly not helping my skin pigmentation on my arms

I want to get Lenzetto from my GP. I don’t get free prescriptions so why wouldn’t they let me have it?

I'm loving it too @Whostolemyhorn What were the little niggles that you noticed improved?
WombatChocolate · 21/01/2022 11:52

The price you pay for prescriptions is still a subsidised price. GPs are looking to reduce costs.
That said, if it’s available on NHS surely it should be available to all.
