Hi
Apologies in advance as I’m just at the beginning of all of this.

I am 48 and still having periods. I don’t think I’m peri menopausal yet, is that unusual? I keep reading about women my age and younger going through it.

I do get hot at night, have PMT and struggle to remember things from time to time. But it’s nothing too major and there’s been no obvious change or deterioration.

I suppose I’m just wanting to make sure I don’t miss a window of some sort for taking medication/making changes.

Is there anything I should be doing? I exercise a lot and don’t need to lose weight.

Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Sounds like you're peri menopausal but if it's not a big deal/you can manage symptoms then ride it out for now. You might want to start some Evening Primrose Oil for the PMT but that's all

The average age for menopause is 51 so half of us are older than that

Thanks both. A lot of my friends of a similar age are talking about it and I just wondered if I should be doing something. I’ll look into EPO.

If you feel ok, that's fine

Around 25% of women has no ill effects and another 25% have only minor ill effects

It's great if you are in those groups , although things can change

Healthy diet and exercise are both good ideas

Thanks @midgedude hopefully it will continue.

I'd say you are normal! I had no obvious peri signs really until well over 50 and was almost 53 when my periods stopped.

By the way, the latest evidence on EPO ( RCOG did surveys on alternative things) shows it helps breast pain (cyclical) but isn't much good for anything else. Definitely not for mood/ psychological stuff.
