Changes to temperature, weight and my boobs

Hi I am 50 this year and well and truly experiencing the menopause. I have started having the hot flushes which are nothing like I ever thought they would be like. I hate to admit it but I thought people exaggerated.

I have also experienced the dreaded weight gain/middle age spread which has left me with a muffin top hanging over my jeans and gone up to a size 14. Hoping its a mix of lockdown weight gain too.

My boobs seem to be getting bigger went from a D up to an F in the last 6 months. Hubby is enjoying the new size but I have had to buy a whole to new wardrobe to cater for the increase in boobs and more cleavage on show. Which is easier said than done in lockdown where you cant try clothes on.

Dont think many women in there late 40s and early 50s are immune to the muffin top. I remember meeting my friends who are all around the same age for lunch in the summer after the first lockdown and just thinking we have all got muffin tops that we didn't before and boobs Dolly would be proud off lol from phones call by the time we meet again we may all be even bigger haha

Anyone else experienced this?

It is worth noting that as we age, our metabolism slows down. You will need to consume around 300 fewer calories a day. If you are still eating the way you did in your 30s, you will gain weight. Additionally, as we age, weight gain settles differently, hence the muffin top and bigger breasts.

If you decide to take the HRT route, it will definitely stop your hot flushes. It will also make it easier to lose weight. However, you will still need to eat a fewer amount of calories due to a slower metabolism. This is the most essential thing - eat less.

Thank you very much for your reply @sansucre. I think that is probably a mistake many women make in that they dont alter how they eat as they age. Will definitely look at my diet and try eat less and see if that helps.

My weight has definitely redistributed itself as I used to be curvy in the hips but now I'm all boobs and tummy.

Will need to have a chat with my GP regarding HRT. Just wary of it

Read the NICE guidelines and also read up on HRT online before approaching your doctor if you want to go that route - GPs can be shockingly ill-informed.

Also, cream and gels are better than pills and transdermal patches
