Looking for advise really.
Doctor is doing blood tests 6 weeks apart.

Im 37, baby is 18months, ebf for 12. Periods returned 4 weeks pp even though ebf.
For 6 months I've have 2 weekly periods.
Had copper iud around 3 months pp, all good. Then 6 months ago 2 weekly periods started. Iud removed in mid December, had 3 bleeds since.

Question is, could this be the start of menopause?

Bloods won't show diddly. Hormone levels change on a daily basis.

I was like you in my twenties, 2 periods a month for a decade.

Peri at 32. Through meno now at 45. It's crap.

Have you any other symptoms? Did they suggest the mirena?

BeautifulBirds · 26/01/2021 14:16

They did suggest the marina but we may want to ttc within the next 12 months.

I’m in the same position almost exactly. I have a 21 month old, though my periods stayed away for a year. As soon as I stopped breastfeeding they came back regularly for a few months and now they’re ridiculously frequent and irregular. The blood tests showed a possible problem with my thyroid so I’m having another set done next week. It was within the ‘normal’ range but at the very bottom of it, so it wasn’t flagged until the doctor actually checked all the results over. I hope you get some answers it’s horrible x For me, at least dd is my last child.

BeautifulBirds · 26/01/2021 14:21

It's horrible isn't it? Can't help but worry.

Pretty unlikely but it can happen. More usually in mid 40s though.

Might be a thyroid problem, mine went hypo at 37 when I was pregnant. It affected my periods and mood.
