Utrogeston and depression / mood

I am 51 perimenopausal and have been taking HRT for 2 years. I use sandrema 2mg per day increased from 1 six months ago and utrogestron 2 a day for 12 days. My GP mentioned the other day that I could start taking this daily - I wasn’t sure I wanted to as I’m not sure if I feel worse in this stage of my cycle as sometimes I get horrible headaches then and sometimes I don’t. GP said this drug usually helps with mood etc but she was happy for me to stick with it as if is, I
Also use vagifem twice a week because of constantly wanting a wee ! My question is that I am currently highly anxious and suffering low level depression - I don’t know whether to try ADs as well as I’m at the end of my tether. I am having private CBT and get out daily and take vitamins including magnesium, zinc turmeric . All the Bs and vit D and ashwangada and started meditating but this seems to get my mind thinking more. It’s been a tough year with business losing my DF but I’m willing to try anything if taking the utrogeston would help ? Anyone know of this particular hormone helps the happy feeling !!

Utrogestan doesn't help mood. It can make some women feel slightly relaxed and chilled (it can help sleep) but it doesn't work like that for me- been using it for around 7 years now on a cycle as you are.

I tend to feel PMS-ish with it and am glad when I stop the days on it. I tried using it daily and it just didn't work for me.

Re the depression and anxiety- are you doing stuff you LOVE day to day? It's been such a bleak year for everyone all we all need some fun in our lives.

Exercise has been shown to be as good as pills for mild depression .

Do you fancy doing something new- maybe some online courses or groups? Stuff like that has kept me going when I can't go out.

You can also, if your GP agrees, reduce the Utro to 10 days if it's making you feel down or go a bit longer than 4 weeks between using it- maybe stretch to 5 weeks,

Thanks jingling maybe I’ll cut this 12 day cycle short and finish today which will make it 10 days instead of 12 - it’s just been too much this year
