Cyclical HRT treatment

I have asked doctor for HRT. I am still getting periods, but horrible PMT and menopausal symptoms.
Doctors has recommended cyclical hrt and send me a link to nhs website and let them know if I want to proceed with request and what treatment option I prefer. I am not sure if I have misunderstood the last part - do doctors normally ask you what kind of treatment you prefer.
I understand what cyclical HRT is, but are there different ways of administering it I think I would prefer patches, or gel as this seems to have the least incidence of cancers etc, but is it available in that format for cyclical hrt.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, its just not clear from the NHS site and a further scroll through the internet.

be aware @housemouse19 you may start a might period in 3 days time, as you are now in the progesterone withdrawal phase of a cycle.

did you gp say use 25 days? if so, that's wrong for cyclical. patient leaflet gives 2 options.... cyclical and continuous

No. It says it on the printed label from the pharmacist. 'One to be taken on days 1 - 25 of cycle, before bedtime on empty stomach'
Probably my own fault for not clarifying. Normally would in a surgery, but everything has been done via phone and email.
Either way, I have not even got to day 14 of taking the lower dose of it, let alone day 25.
I understand what you are saying about cyclical. The reference to it was relating to my initial enquiry when the doctor told me I would need cyclical HRT because I still have periods and I was slightly baffled by the different options.
I am a novice to HRT, but it does seems to be a bit trial and error to find what works for you and this is the first thing I have tried, so maybe back to the drawing board.
Once again thanks for your input.
I will speak to doctor and see what they advise.
