Will brain fog get better?

CukooClock · 16/12/2020 14:08

I've been on HRT for a year or so. It's good. Everything else but my brain is better.

But I cannot think! I am struggling to retain information. I don't suspect dementia ( I'm 52, so it's unlikely although not impossible). My concentration is poor. I know I'm finding the clerical aspects of my own a bit harder.

What can I do?
I've been drinking more water and avoiding caffeine
I could try to get to bed earlier. I sleep very well. 7 hours, same as always.
I could exercise ( at the moment, just walking, no routine)
I could do some brain training. But what?

Has any one experienced anything like this? Did things improve for you? And if so what helped?

Help! Please.

I've not experienced it myself and have been on HRT for over 10 years. In that time I've done sevearl 'intellectual' things including re-training.

I think maybe using your brain more out of work- reading, taking up a new hobby, learning an instrument, but also getting a better blood supply via oxygen to the brain is vital so maybe upping your exercise?

How far do you walk and how fast? A stroll along a flat pavement isn't much good, but if you can get up to 4mph up hills etc that's more of work out.

Im 1.5 yr on from giving birth and I have horrendous brain fog. So I'm following for interest. It's awful!

Definitely more of a stroll than a stride. Of course dark mornings and evenings in an unlit flat, village don't inspire me. But that's something I can work on. I know it its not going make me worse. At least it's one thing to do for myself.
I've asked for a simple cross stitch kit for Christmas that might help concentration although I'm so tired after work the TV is my best friend! I've a few days off over Xmas so I'm hoping to get into some better habits

I've also been taking a vitamin with calcium and Vit D. And an iron supplement.
Routine bloods last year were ok.

Can you get outside at work for a30 min quick walk at lunchtime? or do some aerobic stuff at home in the evening?

Following and hoping for some good ideas - it’s like tumble weed in my head for a few days once a month.

At 48 I’ve noticed my memory not to be as good as I would like it to be, or remembered it to be? I walk into another room to get something and have forgotten by the time I’m in the room. I’m very structured anyway, so anything work related I write down or add to my digital calendar. I’ve started to learn Spanish 12 months ago, and have found it encouraging that I remember new vocabulary and grammar quite well. This makes me feel more positive about the brain fog. If a new language is not for you, maybe crosswords are? I exercise strenuously at least twice a week in winter and more in summer. I also walk a lot. I understand from several books and websites that exercise and eating healthy is key.
