Electric shock sensations

Hello, I am 55 and have been on HRT for about a year and all was well. But recently I've started to have ESS, not just as I fall asleep but, sometimes throught the night.
Anyone experience this and have any solutionsplease?

Oh yes, I had these when I couldn't get hold ofmy HRT. Horrid.

I was around 48, a year or so ago. HRT stops it for me, maybe you need to increase the dose?

Hope it goes away, they really are nasty, I got them on waking, in waves.

Interesting. I get this. 44, Perimenopausal, but not on HRT yet.

The only information I’ve ever found when I googled was about SSRI withdrawal, which doesn’t apply to me. I wonder if it can be a hormone drop thing as well as a HRT withdrawal thing?

Yes, I think it's definitely hormonal drop. Absolutely.

Not SSRI's for me either.

Thank you, that's really helpful.
I was on 20mg of citalopram and reduced to 10mg. It didn't stop them.
But I think the increase in estrogen seems the most likely.
I am on Femonston 1/10 and top it up with 1 pump of oestrogel every second day.
When I went on Femonston2/10 that's when the shocks started (and my symtoms worsened) so I reduced to 1/10 and added in the oestrogel.
It's so difficult to get it right!!

I think they come when oestrogen DROPS.

I take 3 pumps oestrogel and have not looked back... it was only without it I got these shocks (at the beginning of lockdown and already 6 months without HRT Hmm)

Yes I had them a lot they were vile. I increased my HRT and they went away.

The progesterone in Femonston seems to suit me better.

I had this so badly, along with dizziness and tingling. GP had never heard of them as symptoms of meno so I ended up going to see a neurologist as I was convinced I had MS. He reassured me and talked be out if getting a rain scan. He also told me the menopause is poorly understood and very under researched. The bad bit was the uncertainty/ lack of support/ knowledge. Took HRT for several years which helped. The lack of medical know how is a woeful state of affairs imho. Hang in there, you are ok and there are things which will help.
