GP reticent to precrime patches again - anyone else having same battle?

Apologies if this has been discussed on a wider thread (have looked - honest!)

In short - prior to the shortage - I was on Evorel Sequi patches which worked a treat for me.

About 14 months ago I was prescribed gel and progesterone tablets as an alternative because of supply issues with the patches.

I want to go back on patches, pharmacist says they are in ready supply and friends (late to perimenopause and recently diagnosed are already on them) but GP refuses as says there is still a supply issue.

The pharmacist has told me they can supply if I get a prescription but I'm in a catch 22 as GP won't.

No medical issues that make gel/tablets better (opposite in fact) - so what are my options please?

Just go back to your GP and tell them there is no supply issue or get them to call the pharmacist.

Thanks @JinglingHellsBells - have done that already and still no go - GP doesn't want to be "told"

So if you are sitting opposite them and say you prefer patches and they are back in stock, what is your dr saying to you. Is it just' Sorry you can't have those.'?

And if they do what is your reply?

If he is withholding a treatment that is a) the same cost b) you prefer and c) is available, what's his/ her reasoning?

I think you have be more assertive and quote the pharmacist in your town by name and as for an explanation why he won't accept they are in stock.

I hate the way women have to fight for every little thing. It's properly wank! Good luck OP. Maybe slip a 'if I was a man wanting Viagra would I have to keep asking' in there somewhere.

Thanks both - no face-to-face appointments so is GP phone conversation due to it being a non-urgent issue. Each time I ask and explain it is to a different GP (all male so far). Have explained pharmacist position (high street chain) and believe me I am articulate and assertive. Will speak to practice manager next.
