Hysteroscopy and offered Mirena only for "hormonal bleeding".

I'm 44, still having regular periods but started bleeding when I ovulate about 6 months ago. Sporting type bleeding but a new thing. I've had blood tests an internal scan and latest thing, a hysteroscopy. Nothing sinister found, no polyps or fibroids. A biopsy was taken anyway to be sure. I have other symptoms of peri, I believe, such as insomnia, thinning hair, brain fog at times, increased anxiety at times (I'm also on Sertraline long term for low mood), I'm not sure if I have hot flushes as such, but I feel "overheated" a lot of the time. The nurse i saw at the hysteroscopy seemed to suggest that because my periods are still regular, although I might be peri, the Mirena would just be offered to stop the bleeding (which is bearable and not painful) rather than anything to do with peri or hrt, though mirena could be used in conjunction with oestrogen based hormone replacement "in the future". What I'm wondering is, should both be offered to me now? I KNOW that things are changing for me, hormonally speaking. I've read things about women who are peri who should be offered hrt but ideally I would like to know what to say to my GP which will persuade them to try this for me? Any advice or links to relevant websites which recommend this very welcome.

Spend a day reading everything on the website of Dr Louise Newson 'My Menopause Dr' and also watching her videos etc.

It's likely you don't need the ADs but HRT instead- masses on her website about how drs ought to understand low mood & anxiety in peri needs estrogen not ADs. Also NICE guidance says the same thing very specifically.

It seems a bit overkill at 44 to have a Mirena just for light spotting if that's all it is.

A few years back the Mirena plus estrogen was the gold standard for HRT but now some specialists prefer micronised progesterone (Utrogestan) plus estrogen gel/ patch.

You have all the symptoms of peri so no reason to wait if HRT is your goal and you want to try it.

Read the website- masses of info and also podcasts and videos.

Thank you @JinglingHellsBells I'll check those resources out. I'm not convinced I don't need the ADs tbh as I've had depression on and off since a teen. I'm assuming/hoping they can be taken in conjunction with HRT. But possibly I could try the hrt on its own if GP agrees. I'm wary about messing with my ADs. Anyway, hopefully she'll be open to discussing it with me, she's been great at referring me quickly for the various tests I've had so far.
