Ring pessary for a cystocele

Does anyone have a good experience to share.? Someone did a couple of years ago but I can't find the thread.

I only have a seriously prolapsed bladder, my uterus is not too bad and my rectocele is grade 1. My bladder has been inflamed and regular utis for about 5 years now. Estrogen cream and pessary don't really help and all urogynaecologists who examine me say the same thing: I'm apparently "well estrogenised" Shock

So my bladder is like a huge lemon, low down, feel it when I put cream into vagina. Sometimes I see a horrible bulge externally.

This is what happens when you see too many specialists out of desperation. Two have said that a ring pessary will rest exactly where my inflamed bladder is, or against my rectum, and two have said I should try a ring pessary.

I'm scared.

Has it helped anyone who has a cystocele?

Thank you

Has no one suggested surgery? That would be be the usual way to treat.

I had surgery for this over 25 years ago in my late 30s.

It was mainly a cystocele but they also hitched my uterus up a bit and took a bit of slack out of the rectum.

Thank you JinglingHellsBells, all I ever hear from every single "top" urogynaecologist /gynaecologist is that pelvic prolapse surgery is "VERY RISKY AND FAILURE RATE IS HIGH" Hmm
I've also been told that my prolapse is mild, but not my cystocele, that one is moderate they say.
It's a mystery why no one will do it.

Did you have mesh with your repair?
Or was it a stich job?

Where did you get it done?

Thank you!

Well, I've never heard that!

Mine was done at 37 after 2nd baby- had it done privately.

I think you are being told bollocks TBH.

Get another opinion? How many people have you seen and is this through the NHS or privately?

I didn't have mesh as it wasn't invented way back then. It was purely taking out the slack and stitching it up.

I had it done at a private hospital but the consultant worked in the NHS too , I simply used private insurance through work.

I was told that with after-care for life (no heavy lifting or high impact exercises) it should last.

Rings are for old ladies who can't have surgery due to the risks. I think you are being fobbed off.

Agree! It's maddening. I've seen a few consultants on NHS, but many privately. I have medical insurance. It's not a case of second opinion anymore, it's a case of 18th opinion!
I have a gut feeling that none of them are competent enough to do it.
I saw Dr elneil who was allegedly the best gynae surgeon in the land, but she just had a determined agenda to stick a neurmodulation stimulator in my back via open surgery.
Completely negating the prolapse.

Totally fed up.
Could I ask who your surgeon was, or should I pm you?

Thank you JinglingHellsBells

The dr who did mine retired many years ago. He was in his 60s when I saw him.

Obviously I don't know the extent of your issues but I am happy to PM you a couple of names.

Thanks Jingling, really appreciate it :)
