Best supplements for peri!

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good supplement for peri menopause

I eat reasonably well, fresh fruit and vegetables, cook food from scratch.

Only a couple of cups of coffee and one cup of tea each day

I drink lots of water and herbal tea

Has anyone taken a vitamin/mineral supplement that has helped them

Thanks Wink

I used Menopace. Just vitamins and minerals but if I don't my mood is just uncontrollable

Thanks windowlene

Any one use any other supplements that they find beneficial?

Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D and Zinc; they are all in Osteocare. You need to take care of your bones.

Hi, I started perimenopause symptoms around 6 months ago, nothing too severe just hot flushes and trouble sleeping. I picked up 'Wellwoman Original' supplements from the chemist. The reviews were very good for helping with menopause symptoms so I thought I'd give them a try. WOW! Just WOW, my symptoms are gone. I feel like my old self. I'm recommending them to everyone. Maybe I've just been lucky and they particularly agree with me, but surely they are worth trying. Give them a go and I hope they are as effective for you.

Thanks Angelaforever a glowing review!!

Glad they worked for you, I will have a look as well as the osteocare ones and compare 😊

@dingledongle why do you think you need take anything?
Are you trying to stop symptoms, or do you feel your diet is unhealthy?

Please don't randomly use things like Osteocare.

I have taken that for many years because a) I am slightly dairy intolerant so don't eat much of it and b) I had a diagnosis of low bone density years ago - now much improved through various things - but do need to make sure I get the RDA of calcium.

However, for anyone eating dairy, they do not need to use Osteocare.

@jessstan1
It is actually risky to use calcium supplements if not needed because they can cause hardening of the arteries = heart disease or kidney stones.

Bone density falls after the menopause (not during peri) and using calcium won't improve your bones once they have lost density- this is in research. You need to use HRT or other treatments (drugs) if you develop osteoporosis.

Hi jingling

My diet is good, could be better, bu reasonable intake of fruit and veg.

I have just noticed a bit of hair thinning and wondered whether an all round supplement would be beneficial

Speaking with Doctor in November and may ask for a blood test to check iron etc

I found dropping caffeine altogether, helped with sleep patterns

Exercise, HIIT and regular run or cycle each day really helped my brain settle

ivykaty44 · 17/10/2020 09:27

Oh and I dropped most dairy, not sure whether this helped or not

JinglingHellsBells · 17/10/2020 11:07

@dingledongle Hair loss is usually linked to loss of estrogen or low iron. Calcium won't sort it or any other OTC stuff.

dingledongle · 17/10/2020 12:06

Thanks jingling I will speak with GP re iron etc in November 😊

hair loss can sometimes be a sign of hypothyroidism, which can have similar symptoms of menopause

Allthedoggos · 17/10/2020 15:45

I've been taking the Starpowa Menobalance gummies for about 3 months now. Not a miracle solution but the aching in my hands and feet seems to be better and they have definitely made a massive difference to the mood swings and anxiety. The rage, irritability, irrationality, spells of sobbing for no reason and at no predictable time have all calmed down massively and I'm back to just a few days of 'normal' PMT.

Wintershereagain · 17/10/2020 17:23

Menomin this contains all the B bits, omegas, biotin, krill oil etc and has worked for me - I buy it on amazon. I also take a turmeric capsule helps joint aches I think and at bedtime I take calcium magnesium and zinc as I am told this is best time to take it as makes you relax !

Has anyone else been described Sertraline to help with the menopause.
I Was was on Evorel Sequi for 8 months but felt really poorly with them so stopped taken them as advised by doctors but within a few weeks the hot flushes, headaches and all the rest of the symptoms that come with going through the menopause come back with a vengeance,
I really didn’t want to go back on HRT so have been described Sertraline and was hoping someone else have tried them and can give me some feedback.
