Patches coming off

Just started HRT due to horrendous flushes, night sweats and insomnia. Asked for patches as they're meant to be safer but they won't stay on Confused. First one was crumpled within 2 hours, second one I covered with a giant plaster to help it stick but they both came off in the shower.
I'm quite an active person and exercise most days (or did before the insomnia!) and I just can't see them staying on. Think I have oily skin as used to have the same issues with nicotine patches which would end up stuck to my clothes! Is the gel meant to safer than tablets does anyone know? Not even sure it's available in my area.

Oestrogel is your answer. I don't believe there are any supply issues either atm as there have been with some of the patches. In terms of the risk, I'm uncertain.

Oh thank you, good to know. I'll ask the doctor for that then.

I had this too. I was told I have to wear mine below the waist.

I have found they stay in if I use micelar water on clean skin, dry, no moisturiser - on my bum cheek. I swap which cheek and where on the cheek. Everywhere else they curled /bunched up.

Odd. Mine never come off. In fact my hips are covered in sticky squares as the glue is so sticky it leaves marks in me!

Do you use body lotion or something op?
Yes the patches have to be stuck on below the waist, are you putting them somewhere else?

JumperTime · 18/09/2020 17:51

No I've been putting them on my thigh and making sure not to apply lotion in that area. Might give them another go on my bum and use my micellar water beforehand! I do a lot of squats so didn't think that was a great idea but maybe they'd stay put higher up? Thanks for the advice

Pinkshrimp, those sticky squares are easily removed with baby oil on a cotton pad.

Thanks for the tip "allaglow" I've been wondering how to get rid of the sticky patches!
