Can't have non-cyclical HRT until I'm 54?

Can someone confirm this? I'm on Femoston 1/10 and I'm having a withdrawal bleed each month which is highly inconvenient having not had a period for a year prior to that. I've asked to change to a different HRT where I don't have a withdrawal bleed but have been told I'm too young at age 50 and I still have my ovaries.

Is this usual because I can't see where it says anything about this on the internet?

Thanks

Oh dear another dim doctor.

The guidance is perfectly clear and it's on loads of websites if they are confused.

It's EITHER one year with no period OR age 54.

Looks like you need another dr.

GP is talking bollocks. As jingling says, find another! Funnily enough my GP is the opposite, always trying to get me onto something that has no bleed...but my body knows better and carries on having periods depsite it. So I go back to one that is more in synch with my body. Which you should be allowed to do.

Thanks both. I feel I'm in a constant battle with my GP practice. I've asked today if there is a GP who specialises in the menopause and there is! I've written them a letter explaining the issues and included links. The GPs have been great with other things so I'm loathe to look elsewhere.

I'm amazed and disappointed though that as all women go through the menopause in some form or another that the GPs don't seem to know much.
