Pregnancy during perimenopause

Mir91 · 28/08/2020 10:52

I'm 38 and going through perimenopause for the last year almost. Ive wanted another child for years. I know the odds are against me but I'm just wondering have any of you got pregnant during perimenopause. Did it happen naturally or was fertility treatment needed. Thanks in advance

I think @Mir91 what you want to think about is having your AMF tested to show the state of your ovarian reserve. You'd need to see a fertility expert and have your blood tested to show this (anywhere from £90 to £200 for the test plus the consultation.)

I don't think being honest that anyone else's story is worth anything as it's YOUR egg supply that the factor.

Have been referred to specialist but there is a substantial wait normally that has been made longer because of covid. Could be looking at 12 to 18 months for that test.

Crappy that you have to wait. Hope
You get some positive shares.

Seems quite early for perimenopause. Are you sure?

I had three kids in my mid to late thirties but as a pp said, that may not relate to you at all

JinglingHellsBells · 28/08/2020 15:22

@Mir91 If you paid to see a private consultant , if that is possible, you could have the test the same day or days afterwards. Can you afford that? So you'd be looking at 2-4 weeks in total from now.

Well all the signs were there and the blood test confirmed with the fsh levels

Looking into that as we speak.

FSH isn't that reliable, unless it's done on the right days of a cycle- between days 2-5, and over 2 months (not one test on any day of the month.)

However, if I were you I'd try to find around £400 if that's possible and get the anti mullarian test because you need that information.

Thank you for that information. I've starting looking into that here (Ireland)
