Evorel Conti patches

Hi, first time on Mumsnet. Has anyone been on Evorel Conti patches? I have been using them for 4 weeks and have been bleeding every day apart from first 3 days. Helping hot flushes and insomnia but didn’t really want constant bleeding! Don’t know whether to continue and see if it stops. Have used various other hrt which caused ‘flooding’ for 2 weeks at a time and constant headaches. Need some hormonal input due to Endometrial Hyperplasia diagnosis. Very wary of Mirena coil for progesterone element due to scare stories.

Hi Not really enough info to answer fully.

How far into menopause are you? Are you still having periods? How old are you?

Bit puzzled why you are being given a patch now if you have hyperplasia- is this being prescribed by a gynaecologist?

Was the hyperplasia 'just' heavy periods because you are in peri?

Has the hyperplasia been diagnosed by a scan, a hysteroscopy or both?

According to info online, the treatment of hyperplasia is either the Mirena coil OR a long course of Norethisterone.

It would be unusual to give you HRT containing estrogen if you have active and 'serious' hyperplasia because any estrogen will just build up the lining more. That's probably why you are bleeding.

The guidance on conti HRT is that for women who are post menopause and use it, it can take 3- 6 months for it to work fully and no bleeding to occur.

But if you already have a thickened lining, that's probably not going to work.

Oh and many women are delighted with the Mirena- surely it' s worth a try?

Hi, 2 years since last period and now 58 (was late stopping).
Was already started on Femoston Conti HRT when EH diagnosed and Gynae actually upped the dose.
Certainly need to try something else as constant bleeding not much fun. Waiting for referral to Menopause Clinic.

TBH if you can afford a private consultation you would be better off doing that- goodness knows how long the wait is for an NHS menopause appt. Most private specialists are doing remote Zoom appts and you can usually get an appt within 2 weeks. Worth thinking about?

Have you had a scan / hysteroscopy and that was how EH was discovered? What reason was given for that given you are 58 and 2 years post meno?

Thanx, I was thinking about private consultation. I will if referral to Menopause clinic is longer than the 6 weeks quoted for telephone appt.

Had post menopausal bleeding long before I started any HRT, that was reason for scan and biopsy leading to EH diagnosis.

Oh to be female!! If only you could flick a switch when finished with your hormones!
