HRT

Help! After suffering peri symptoms for a while, flushes, night sweats, mood swings, insomnia, brain fog, I had a 5 week period 😫 The Doctor suggested I start HRT, oestrodiol gel and utovlan tablets. I started 3 days ago with the oestrogen. My bleeding stopped after the first dose, so that was great, but my flushes have got so much worse. I’m getting one at least every hour, more if I eat hot food or have a hot drink. And the aches in my body are awful. Has anyone experienced this and will it settle down? I’m almost 46.

@PantsToThis You aren't on Utrogestan. You are on norethisterone, branded as Utovlan.

PantsToThis · 29/07/2020 10:39

No I checked the pack and it's definitely utrogestan. I just made a mistake when I said utovlan as I had been scrolling the posts on here and knew it was something beginning with U! Brain fog. I've had norethisterone before for delaying periods when I had a holiday coming up, so I know the difference.

@PantsToThis Im on patches and Utrogestan tablets. How are you doing by now?
Ive had so many down days, feel so bloated its stopping me wanting to do anything! Not sure if any of how Im feeling is down to the meds or not but I just dont feel myself anymore, never happy, never have energy and always tired. Please tell me this is normal? X

PantsToThis · 08/08/2020 12:27

Sorry to hear you're still up and down. I hope things settle for you soon. The bloating and energy levels sound miserable.
I'm doing ok, just on my second day of Utrogestan today. I'd say on balance I feel better. The hot flushes have all but disappeared, which is a big win. Sleep is better, it's still taking ages to drop off, but that Lots of people say the utrogestan affects their mood though so we will see.
How many days into the utrogestan are you? Was it that that made you bloated?

@PantsToThis Ive done 2 weeks of tablets and on my first of 2 weeks off. Meant to have a period but nothing happened yet.
Not sure whats causing bloated But my stomach is huge and I look pregnant!! Its so frustrating!
I dont think the situation of whats going on in the World right now, is helping my down feeling either. Ughhhh hate this 😩

Hi @Disis73 and @PantToThis, glad you are feeling a bit better Pants, and has the bleeding eased up?

I started Femoston nine days ago and I have to say it has made damn all difference to the flushes, though I do feel a bit of a change to mood and energy coming from somewhere at times, tho it is a bit fleeting.

Is bloating a side effect of HRT?

Disis73 · 08/08/2020 18:48

@jackdawdawn Im not sure if it is? It would make sense if it was 😩

PantsToThis · 09/08/2020 11:06

@jackdawdawn my bleeding stopped a week Into the oestrogen so that's was great.
Just to clarify when I say the sweats are all but gone I mean the overwhelming ones that were coming on 15 times a day. Now it's just smaller manageable ones and feeling hot at night.
@Disis73 I'm so sorry you're struggling. Are you going to keep going for another couple of months?

@PantsToThis Im going to keep going 💪 But I am so so low, I may need to speak to the Dr 😢 I know times are hard for everyone right now and I try and do the right things to keep positive, such as mindfulness, meditation, walking, healthy eating etc but nothing seems to help! Thanks for your reply x
