Anyone who can help with fibroids??

Hi
I am 48 with regular periods. I have noticed lately that I get mild cramps from ovulation and beyond my period that got me worried. I had an ultrasound and was told I have a small fibroid but it is nothing to worry about.
I suffer from crippling health anxiety that I believe has become worse during the perimenopausal stage. Has anyone had fibroids that could share their experience ?

Hi..yes I have a fibroid 15x10x11cm. The main symptom for me is extreme bleeding and flooding, with big clots. Also back pain and needing a wee often. What are you anxious about in particular ?

I have one large fibroid, which was only discovered because I was having very heavy periods so was anaemic. I now have the Mirena coil, which has settled the heavy periods, and both my GP and the gynaecologist said there was no other reason to worry about the fibroid.

Hope that helps - it's so easy to start worrying about health things just now and so hard to stop. Flowers

I guess I question whether that is why I feel these low grade me atrial cramps even after my period is done.
I have a very hard time not obsessing about these things and so asking on a forum seems to offer the greatest support.

Did the Dr give an opinion as to what they thought?

No. It was just my gp. I went through it a few years ago and it went away. I May get a referral to a on-gyn.

@njshep I have a fibroid. Discovered on a scan for something else, about 12 years ago. Was told it was nothing to worry about. I see a meno gynae regularly and have had other scans over the years which showed the fibroid still there but hardly any bigger despite being on HRT for a long time.

Honestly, they say up to half of all women have a fibroid- it's often completely 'normal'- it's just a bit of extra muscle in the wall of the uterus.

I don't know what an 'atrial' cramp is- what do you mean by 'atrial'?
(was that a typos? :) )

It may not be anything to do with your period- if you are a very anxious person it could be something like IBS that's triggered by your anxiety.

I have a few fibroids, one is the size of an orange. Discovered during c section.

My main problem is very heavy periods and flooding.

I have a few. Seen during pregnancy scans. Never caused any problems. The majority of women have them.

When I was post menopause 2 years, I had a bleed.
I was sent for a small op can’t remember the name something beginning with H.
That’s another story!

Anyway in the end went through medical insurance private to have it done under general
They found fibroids and polyps
Took them out, fine now no problems that was 8 yrs ago
