The start of peri-menopause?

I've just turned 44 and I think peri-menopause has started. Slightly longer cycles, irregular bleeding and horrid aura migraines.
Is there anything I can take to help ease some of these symptoms? Is it too early to start HRT? I must admit that I'd like to try more natural remedies first.
I suffered from infertility for many years and always thought that I was oestrogen dominant. Do these symptoms look to be erratic levels of oestrogen?

Hi. I am nearly 44 and I take passionflower capsules at night to calm myself down and help me get to sleep. I used to take Valerian root also but I was having sweat sweats so I stopped them. They are both herbal but be careful with the dosages please. I am allergic to lots of things including pollen and they are both made from plants. I have bought some natural cbd capsules to try due to headaches and migraines for the 1st time in my life that is everyday for the last 3 months. Stress makes my headaches worse and lack of sleep. My doctor gave me sumatriptan and they help take away the headaches but they put colourings in pills which effects my adhd so I’ve asked my chemist for the white pills only and I took 1 today it worked straight away so hopefully it won’t come back. If my neighbours stop stomping about above my bedroom after 10pm I wouldn’t be so stressed. I like to read my kindle, meditate or listen to waves, rain or chilled music. I also have positive thinking, calm minds c.ds which really help me. If only I could hear them via earphones above the stomping. I am currently taking 25mg of sertraline so I door open feel better after 2 weeks. They seem to be slowing me down and helping me concentrate, which I badly needed. Good luck Smile

It hit me last year with acid reflux I was practically housebound affected my entire body at first thought it was cancer or something just a bad. I'd never know anything like it acid in throat, migraines like concussion, nerve damage in me heels, heartburn, unable to swallow, lump in throat back and side pain, stomach noises, burping and shortness of breath. When I did sleep would wake choking unable to breath. I was pretty health not overweight, balanced diet didn't smoke or drink. I did a lot of research online, found I wasn't alone was triggered by perimenopause.

The estrogen level that control the valve that keeps acid in stomach becomes weakened and doesn't close due to hormone changes. I tried everything to solve problem naturally I lost a stone in weight I was dangerously underweight. I could'n't therefore do acid watchers diet cutting more things out already eating very little. I went onto blockers which caused 2/3 of my hair to fall out over 3/4 months I was on them but they got it under control and weaned off them. Since late last summer it settled that I knew times of month it would trigger. Due to stress, anxiety and insomnia I think which is a trigger it's returned last two week hoping it doesn't develop as bad as last time as my hair has now grown back a lot. Perimenopause isn't talked about enough everything is about menopause while this is something that can affected you for up to 10 years before I'm only 41 so it's quite early, joy.

Thank you for replying. It's good to know that I'm not alone although I am sorry you are both suffering.
The symptoms can be really horrific and the thought of this continuing for years is beyond depressing.
I am overweight so I'm trying to lose a couple of stone through intermittent fasting to see if that helps. I'll let you know how I get on (unless I give up after a couple of days).
You are right @Grace25 it's not really talked about and it should be. There should be much better treatments for something which will effects half the population for up to 10 years of their life.

Ladies go on menopause matters site, they have a forum
It will be an eye open to you, the symptoms you can get the list is endless.
Just be aware anxiety or even depression may happen, only mentioning as it didn’t even occur to me menopause anxiety/depression and I went through hell. Even gp didn’t put 2&2 together and I may off wanted to try hrt back then not a load off messing about with ad’s

I’m 39 and just started HRT (oestrogel and Utrogestan) after going into early menopause due to autoimmune conditions. HRT has been wonderful - and if you are quite young then oestrogen is really important to protect your bones and heart. Have a read of the Newson Health Clinic website and watch some of the You Tube videos by Dr Louise Newson.

I know my mum sailed through it. She's always educated me about menopause through her trial and errors what worked for her without relying on HRT. So I really wasn't expecting this unexpected joy, women really do get the raw deal between their 40-60s 😂
