More likely to skip period or be late in early peri???

Hello, I just wondered if anyone could tell me what’s more ‘usual’ at the start of peri menopause - to skip periods altogether or to have erratic cycles?
My cycle has been around 22-25 days since I had my second baby 8 years. I’m now on day 35 and no sign at all!! I am 43 with 3 kids, my husband has had a vasectomy and I took pregnancy tests on days 30 and 31 and both were negative. I’m still paranoid that I am pregnant though!!

I imagined that when it all started, it would be with irregular periods, but they’ve been pretty clockwork until this month! Is this a typical way for things to start? Thank you!

I think it can be either or both! My perimenopause started with my cycles getting longer, then there could be three weeks between periods or sometimes six weeks, and when they came they were heavier. I was like clockwork until I was 44 then things started to change. I got so fed up with it all I ended up having a Mirena coil put in and it stopped the wretched things completely.

My peri started at 43 with my periods going crazy. I had my tubes tied at 27, and for years had light periods that were like clockwork. Overnight, everything went mental. I skipped for two months, normal the next, heavy and horrible the next, etc. I never knew what to expect. Not long after, I started to get other symptoms so started HRT and everything has been great.

Mine got closer together and much heavier at 43, I had ablation and haven't had one since

Erratic is spot-on as is flow and length of period

Ok! Thank you. So more likely a sign of peri than a pregnancy that’s slipped past a vasectomy and 2 negative tests?!?!

Same here this month. 44 with a regular cycle although it has been getting sorted and periods are heavier and seem to go on longer. Almost three weeks late this month! Apparently there has been lots of women the same, thoughts are that it could also be to do with Covid and the added stress of everything too.

Irregular periods is what you are having. There is no difference between erratic/ irregular and missed periods.

A missed period does not always come exactly 2 months after the previous one (ie meaning you go 8 weeks not 4.)
Also you can have one odd cycle and it means nothing. It could be stress or anything.
If this carries on for months then it's peri but you are young for it- average age of meno is 51 and cycles can go awol years before, but 43 is still young.

I'm 43 and missed a period for the first time in 30 years a couple of months ago. Like you dh has had the snip and I panicked at first! It never turned up but the next month was a blood bath. Then next cycle 28 days and fine. Go figure. We tend to have menopause earlyish in my family, mum was mid forties.

Hi OP, mine just stopped at 43 and never returned! Got proper menopausal symptoms at 45, took HRT pronto.

It's the same thing. You are on the young side though so get yourself checked out.

Eek I am a little anxious at the moment as I was having peri symptoms for the past year and a half, and erratic periods ie two in one month or one every two months.

I had my last period in February and desperately hoping at 46 it’s part of menopause and not a birth control fail. Sad
