Is feeling faint usual in menopause?

I'm late forties, I've had very few periods over the last couple of years, a few hot flushes and some notable mood swings but that's about it until recently.

About 3 weeks ago I started to feel very faint when raising my arms above my head, most noticeably when I wash my hair. A couple of times I've thought I'd collapse in the shower.

I've had faintness a few other times also but it's generally when arms are raised.

I don't feel it's significant enough to bother a GP about, and the teeny Googling 😬 I've done is inconclusive re it being a menopause symptom.

Has anyone else had any experience?

Hi OP
Dizziness it most certainly a menopausal symptom. I know I have suffered significantly from that. I would however get it checked by a gp to make sure it's related to menopause and nothing else.

You definitely need to get that checked out determine whether it's neurological and relatively benign (like POTS - horrid but not likely to kill you) or cardiac.

Yes, I had fainting feelings for quite some time during peri menopause. It has got better.

Yes, I have. Dizziness, lightheadness, feeling sick etc.. ended up referred to cardiology as it was picked up that I had very low blood pressure and resring heart rate.

It's actually got much better since being in menopause fully. I creased BP is linked to the menopause but less often, the opposite can happen.

I get faint feelings when I get out of a warm bath, or wash dishes in a sink full of hot water. Sometimes need to lie down straightaway. I was walking in the park last week on a hot day and felt dizzy and faint and needed to sit down.

Is it the heat perhaps - a vasomotor symptom? I have definitely noticed it more over the last couple of years, and I am also 48 and perimenopausal. But if it also occurs when you raise your arms, it could be low blood pressure. My mum suffered from this as she got older and could never put curtains up!

I've had that a lot recently op. It improved when I increased my salt intake. Perimenopause messes with blood pressure and blood sugar.
