Elleste Duet to Kliofem?? Advice please!

I’m 47 and have been on HRT for six months for peri menopausal symptoms. I’m still having periods, which were extremely heavy before starting HRT.

I started on Novofem but needed something stronger to alleviate symptoms. I was put on Elleste Duet which I have been taking for the last three months. This has been fine on the whole, although has caused me to have slightly itchy skin.

Dh has just been to collect my repeat and has come back with Kliofem, as they were unable to source Elleste Duet. I’ve looked this up online and it seems that Kliofem is a continuous HRT and best suited to post menopausal women. It appears to be a good alternative to Elleste Duet Conti, which isn’t what I have been taking. Anyway, rang up the pharmacist at the surgery and she was a bit clueless, saying that it was what came up on the computer as an alternative, but she wasn’t sure if it was ok or not. She is going to speak to the GP, but I don’t always have a lot of faith in them!

Can anyone advise if it is a viable alternative, even though it is designed for post menopausal women? If not, can anyone suggest a better fit?

I know it is not a pressing issue given the current climate, but I’m scared that haywire hormones and lockdown might not mix too well!

I was put straight onto Kliofem as my first HRT. It made me bleed for nearly four months continuously. I then tried Elleste Duet which allowed me to have a monthly bleed. I think Kliofem or the continuous ones should not be prescribed unless you've not had a period for a year or if you're after age 54,.

Yes that’s what I thought so not sure why I have been given it. Think I’ll have to ring and speak to a doctor. It’s difficult as you get used to one type of HRT and then they are unable to source any more. I wonder if I should ask for Femoston as I’ve seen reviews of that online? Thanks for replying!
