Independent pharmacy none in stock

Was on evorel Sequi, could I change to evorel conti? I’m 51. No idea if natural periods would have stoppped, been on sequi for so long. Definitely no regularity to them at all, even with the sequi
Confused, no gp appointments and no gp there anyway. Series of locums

GPs are doing phone or online appts- Have you tried calling them?

tulipsrus · 12/04/2020 17:57

But is it even available if gp prescribes it?
I went to independent pharmacy because gp prescribed it and I couldn’t get it filled anywhere. I can’t traipse around pharmacies now.

Hi Tulip
My sympathies. I've been on Evorel patches for over a year and a have had a merry dance trying to keep one step ahead of the shortages. I got the initial prescription from the doctor, then have spent a fortune on buying it from the Independent Pharmacy. I got another prescription very recently from my GP (in the Midlands), but once again they are out of stock. It's extremely frustrating.
Good luck.

I was on Evorel patch 75mcg but havent been able to get it in UK since september so was buying the equivalent over the counter" in Tenerife.
Last week I went to a local pharmacy (now back in UK) and asked them what they had that was equivalent to Evorel that GP could prescribe. They gave me the name of an alternative and I requested a prescription from the GP and then went back to the pharmacyto have it dispensed. Bit of a long way round of getting the medication but worth it.
Good Luck

I also can't get Evorel patches anywhere, including the private online pharmacy I used last year.

I asked an independent pharmacist what she could get, and she said Estraderm 50 (no other strengths, just that one), so I asked my GP via the surgery's online portal to prescribe some and I was able to obtain that.

It seems identical to Evorel 50.

So that might be a route worth trying - asking (phoning) some pharmacists to see what they have got or can get.

Good luck Flowers

To add, Evorel patch equivalent in UK is Estradiol.

AutumnCrow · 12/04/2020 18:49

Xposted with you @Joans!

DP did say, why don't GPs just prescribe estradiol? Then pharmacies could give out what they've got or can get hold of. 'Just stick the bloody patch on my bum,' I replied.

DeathByBoredom · 12/04/2020 18:52

Sequi isn't back in stock til May. Interested in alternatives though so let me know what you find ...

Crystaltree · 12/04/2020 18:58

Evorel patches are like rocking horse shit, basically. I had to come off them and go on Elleste Duet. Now I can't get that either.

I've made a thread on here about the British Menopause Society and their lack of enthusiasm for updating the shortages list (a failing my GP moaned about to me last week, as it was wasting her time).

You can expect to go a merry and time wasting dance between your GP and the pharmacists all over your town. At a safe social distance of course.

I had been buying Evorel online for months but can no longer source it. My GP prescribed over the phone - a gel plus a progesterone tablet. He called the local pharmacy to see what they had in stock first. Not ideal but better than nothing.

Madwomanuptheroad · 12/04/2020 20:10

You can get evorel conti (they are the exact same as the second part of sequi) and you can get other makes of estrogen only patches (ie estrodot ect). Both available through gp.
So you use the estrogen only for the first two weeks and the the evorel conti for the last two weeks.
I got mine in the last few weeks from boots without issues.
It was a problem to get 75 estrogen patches so I got 50 and 25 ones.
You can't take the conti only if you still have a womb and still might take periods.

Crystaltree · 12/04/2020 20:29

Yeah I'm not a professional but I believe you can't go from sequential onto any form of continuous (conti) until you have been a year period free.

I linked to a list of available hrt on the thread by @Crystaltree
