Any tips for really dry itchy skin and wiry hair?

Or do I need to start hrt?

I've found sea buckthorn capsules, wondering if any good. Got flaxseed oil but it's not doing much. Have bladder problems and trying to avoid fish oil capsules...

My face is so dry and itchy all day and night. My bladder feels dry and Ovestin or vagifem cause histamine reaction so I can't take it.
Argh. Anything else I can do?

Thank you

what do you mean by histamine reaction?

I suffered with IC for decades ( thought to be partly a release of histmaine) and the one thing that helped was HRT and vaginal estrogen.

How long did you use both for?

Why avoid fish oil?

With vaginal estrogen it can take a good 3- 6months to really help bladders.

Have you see a dr about your face? Is it eczema maybe? Have you tried any of the OTC stuff like the creams by Eucerin or E45?

Thanks for replying.
My doctor who specialises in urology says that local estrogen can sometimes cause a histamine reaction. Good knows, but it made sense.
Yes I've been diagnosed with ic but also have prolapse of bladder, rectum uterus etc plus hypermobility so they won't operate.
Also have utis.
It's just a living hell
On antibiotics since Jan. Have helped but my skin is up the creek presumably down to low estrogen levels....

Which hrt helped you with your ic?

In truth, I would urge you to try and carry on using vaginal estrogen for one more time.

What effects did it give you?

It's pretty normal to feel some irritation to start with as the tissues are responding to something new.
I felt a bit sore initially but persevered.

Why can't you have surgery for your prolapse? I don't understand why hyperm prevents that? (I have had that surgery by the way, 25 years ago.)

The UTIs will be down to lack of estrogen but possibly the prolapse too as the urine can't drain out so easily and infections can take hold more easily. That again is common.

I didn't start hrt for IC. Any sort ought to help you- it's estrogen you need.

Unless you were in agony with Ovestin, I'd try again and persevere.

Thank you JinglingHellsBells, that's really encouraging. Vaginal walls feel all swollen and I can't wee - almost like retention when I use the cream or pessary. Cream can also cause this yellow tinged discharge which I also find odd.
Not one surgeon feels my prolapse is anything but mild. Personally, I agree with what you say. It's my body and I know it. I can physically feel pressure on my bladder and can't empty properly.
Oh, and 3 well known urogynaecologists/gynaecologist have poo-poohed the use of a pessary saying it'll aggravate my bladder or rectum.

So fed up.
Will give it another go with Ovestin and try to persue for longer as per your brilliant advice.
