Sometimes I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and barely recognise me...my hair is not the same as it used to be!

Background...I am not on HRT..yte. I have been prescribed it (patches and utrogestan100) for low mood, anxiety and flushes but not started yet as I read a problem with patch supply and worried about starting and stopping...it's taken a long time for me to think about taking it.

I had a scan and womb lining pretty thin and have managed bar horrid low moods and anxiety til now....as had Mirena in and think that helped along with Red Clover tablet. However, since it was taken out because of bleeding before xmas , boy have I felt the difference re flushes.
I am 54, and slim , fit and try to eat a reasonable diet and would like nice hair again! I use Plantur shamnpoo and have done for about 4 years. Do any tablets help or different shampoos such as Regain?!
Help

Bumble and bumble thickening spray has improved my hair. Debenhams have a sale on at the moment, smaller size is available too. It doesn’t leave your hair crunchy or sticky. I got mine using my boots points so that’s an option. I haven’t tried any of their shampoo/conditioners as I can’t justify the cost.

Anything with caffeine in it.

The mirena coil made my hair fall out too, much more once removed! I was 30 when this happened, now 32 and was nothing to do with menopause although I understand hormones play a massive part. It took my hair a year to stop falling out and is all growing back now.
Few things I did below in case helpful to you:
Improved diet, avoided things like cows milk which has tons of artificial hormones in it.
Increase iron, you need a Ferratin score of 50 or above apparently to regrow hair.
Started using this shampoo and condition www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/viviscal-gorgeous-growth-densifying-shampoo-60006665?skuid=006665
Stopped brushing hair when wet and let dry naturally.
Took vitamins
Stopped dying it for 6 months

Hope any of this helps. It’s very stressful watching you hair get thinner and thinner. Mines nearly back to what it was now.

Oh and don’t go down the regain route unless you can continue to do for the foreseeable. Hair usually all falls out again once you stop using it.

Thanks...especially for the Regain route advice! Eurgh...not sure can hold off the dye though...grey comes through and makes me feel OLD! Altho at the present time haven't done it since beginning of Feb...not so much need when working from home and staying in!

What you are experiencing sounds very much like what happened to me when I had the mirena coil remove, especially have aniexty and low mood as well as the hair thinning. Google ‘Mirena crash’ happens to loads of women and is nothing to do with menopause. It does get better!

My hair started falling out 2 years ago and I started taking Viviscal tablets. You need to give them time to work and they are expensive but I wouldn't be without them now. The hair loss stopped and my hair is much thicker.
