Can perimenopause exacerbate IBS or cause digestive issues?

I’m 47 in a couple of weeks and although two gp’s have told me I am not in peri (apparently because I still have regular periods), I think I may be. I can tick off several perimenopause symptoms. I have suffered from IBS for over 20 years but the last few years have been awful. I have terrible indigestion, burning feeling in my guts, bloating, burping, gassiness and nausea. Last year I had a colonoscopy, gastroscope with biopsies, us scan and ct scan and luckily nothing was picked up, I asked the gastroenterologist if it could be peri related and he said maybe and left it at that. It is driving me insane and ruining my life. I get a few good days after my period but as soon as mid cycle comes along it all starts up again. I’ve tried giving up gluten, have tried the low Fodmap diet , gave up dairy 15 years ago and tried various over the counter meds but nothing helps. Does anyone else suffer like this?

Have you tried bowel rest? Eat breakfast then don't eat lunch then have light dinner , drink water as normal and see if it helps. Did you have an abdominal surgery in the past (like c section) ? Or have suffered from ruptured cyst in the past? A previous surgery can cause scar tissue which can cause partial bowel obstruction - it mimics like IBS but it is not. It could be the reason because you have tried so many diets which should improve ibs but still your ibs is still there.
