HRT questions. Mirena?

I'm 46 and definitely experiencing some perimenopause symptoms: disturbed sleep, anxiety, brain fog, dryness, mood swings and I'm fed up. I'm shattered trying to juggle work, kids, house etc whilst feeling rubbish.
I'm considering a GP app to discuss HRT but am confused about what to ask for.
I've got a fairly new mirena (7 months) which I had fitted as I was severely anaemic due to heavy periods. I'm not bleeding at all now but prior to that my cycle was fairly regular. I have family history of breast cancer (mother and maternal grandmother) and take medication for high blood pressure. I'm very slightly overweight but not bmi obese. Are there any hrt options for me or am I going to get ADs pushed towards me which I don't want.
Any advice to help me prepare would be gratefully received. Thanks.

It depends a bit on how old your mum and gran were when they had cancer. If they were young, it's a bit more of a risk I understand.

I'd ask to see a meno specialist such as one at the chelsea and westminster hospital in London - they take referrals from all over the UK. Or if not, someone closer to home. There is no 'right' answer to this. You will find drs who say you are fine with it for at least 5 years as you are young now , others will be more cautious. In my experience of listening to experts, they would tend I think to say use it if you are willing to take the small risk.

anyone ever suggested you are tested for the BRAc1 gene?

Hi. Def try and see a specialist or a week-informed doctor. There's some really helpful podcasts out there- try the dr Louise newsom one

Thanks both. I've never investigated the genetic testing but as I get older, I think about it more. Mother was late 40s when diagnosed, Nan older in her early 60s.
I never expected the perimenopause to be so hard. I'd really like to be able to take something to help but obviously not at a high risk as I have fairly young kids to consider too.
