Bleeding after menopause

Mylifestartstoday · 30/09/2019 12:46

Last December I had to have a blood test for something and it came back that I had gone through the menopause. This was repeated 3 months later and again stated I had gone through the menopause. I have not had a period since I stopped the pill at that time. Now I’m bleeding, not enough to need a pad, but red blood on toilet paper. Is this normal, or should I try and get a doctor appointment? Thanks

Get a GP appointment. Definitely.

The pill might be a factor—I don’t know because it’s not my experience—but once you’re in menopause (one year without a period), any bleeding should be addressed by a medical professional.

I stopped the pill around March this year once they said I’d definitely gone through menopause, and not had any bleeding at all since. I thought I would be advised GP, I hate internal exams!

It's not necessarily a GP matter at this stage.

The rule is that you see a dr if you have gone for 12 months with no period.

Blood tests cannot show menopause so close to using the Pill anyway. Whoever told you the results meant menopause is wrong.

You need to see a dr if you had not period for 12 months.

Did you not have a monthly bleed on the pill or was it the mini pill?

Your GP won't do an internal anyway for this even if you see them- you would be referred for an ultrasound scan.

It was the GP who told me I was through the menopause. Bugger, I thought I’d gotten off lightly with very few symptoms! I didn’t have a bleed at all, I think it was cerazette I was on

sounds as if they need to go back to med school.

The NHS guide is very clear on menopause 'tests' and the Pill

Omg. He told me I was definitely through the menopause. I had a blood test, and then had to go back 3 months later (I think) and the results of that, he said, showed I was through it! I thought I’d gotten off lightly, bloody good job my husband was having an affair and didn’t want sex with me 😂
