Weird 'dry' period?

I'm 48, definitely peri and have had erratic cycles for about two years. This is a new experience though. Yesterday (day 54 of this cycle) I started having a strange period. No liquid, just random stringy clots. I've had the usual symptoms (sore boobs, cramps, low mood) so I was expecting a period but this is very strange. Anyone else experienced this? Should I see a doc?

Yeah I had the same with hrt, not a normal fluid, it is due to the lack of estrogen. My gyn said that it is ok.

In peri you have to expect absolutely anything Grin
This is perfectly normal- it just means your womb lining hasn't built up and that's down to falling hormones.

In peri a period might be days of flooding or drops of no more than spotting and anything in between.
I have short 1-2 day periods with hardly any flow as I got to the end of them.

oh...ps- you might find this is just the start of the period and it picks up over the next few days so be prepared. (THey don't always start with a full-on blood loss.)

Thanks so much. It's ridiculous how little information is out there for this stage of life. Thank goodness for Mumsnet.

You were right. The floodgates opened while standing in line at Sainsbury's. Confused

Oh god, poor you @tex171

I have this spotting / dry stringy / sandy thing also, and know now to wear a pad the next day, just in case. More often then not it’s the correct thing to do!

Meno is a tricky time..
