No effect from HRT?

I'm well into month 2 of HRT now and I can't say I'm seeing any effect at all. I'm still a crabby, snappy, exhausted wreck with a brain of pure mush. The leaflets say it can take up to three months to see the full effect but everyone I seem to speak to and even the GP said I would probably feel the effects within days. Am I being too impatient? Is the dose too low? Am I on the wrong brand of oestrogen or progesterone (do they carry that much)? Is a gel or patch better, assuming I can get hold of them, of course! I'm currently on Zumenon and Utrogestan, the lowest dose of each (sorry can't remember the precise mg right now - yay brain fog!).

Or am I not perimenopausal at all? I'm only (ha, 'only') 43 but lost an ovary a couple of years ago and my shopping list of symptoms was sufficient to convince the GP after being fobbed off with 'oh you have a 3yr old and work full time, of course you're tired would you like some antidepressants?'' for months.

I don't know, maybe I'm panicking too soon but I'm not sure I can bear the thought of this being 'normal' from now on!

Any advice welcome!

If you post the dose it would help :) At 43 your need is usually for a higher dose- ie 2mgs estrogen - not 1mg. The next step if you are not getting results is to increase the dose.

Yes sorry, RL intervened a bit there - Zumenon (estradiol) 1mg, Utrogestan 200mg on days 15-26.

Should I suggest upping the dose?
