Has anyone tried EVOREL HRT patches and if so how did you get on with them and how well did they stay on?
Thanks

I have them, change them on Saturdays and Wednesdays. I’m surprised how well they stick, even through hot baths and yet are easy to peel off.
I have found them to be very good. if pushed I would say marginally less effective that tablets, but have massively reduced hot flushes. No problems with them

landoflostcontent · 09/08/2019 17:29

I have just gone back on them after a break (which was awful!) I had previously taken them for years (and years) I LOVE them, OK now and again one comes unstuck but they have changed my life Smile

Daddylonglegs1965 · 09/08/2019 17:45

Thanks both. I have just read the long leaflet with the scary side effects. I put body moisturiser on this morning and we are off on holiday next weekend so I wondered whether to wait until after the hols with swimming and the 4 hour flight. It also says not to use if you have thyroid problems and I have had an under active thyroid and have taken levothyroxine for years for this.

I take levothyroxin following thyroid cancer and I will just have to have more regular blood tests for a while (started my patches yesterday). So am going to have bloods at 6 weeks and 3months and probably ask for another at 6months to be sure (usually I have them annually).

The blurb says discuss with doctor for thyroid, not that you can’t use them.

princessTiasmum · 10/08/2019 12:10

I have just stopped Evoral Conti, might be different to what you are taking, but i got bad stomach cramps and the runs non stop for 2 days, also hair loss after only 4 weeks ,my daughter is having same problems, hair just started dropping,
Although they do stick very well, but don't put on top of moisturiser

Daddylonglegs1965 · 10/08/2019 15:40

Thanks all. Patch went on last night and still in place after my shower this morning. I will let my haematologist know about the HRT patch and see what he thinks. GP has said she will review me in three months. But forget to ask whether I need to make the appointment or whether they would contact me but DH rang about an appointment last week and our GP’s surgery said no appointments until Sept.

Hi I have been using Everol patches for many many years- they do the job...but just keep an eye on your blood pressure as it can start to go up. Aside from that, Everol is great

Daddylonglegs1965 · 10/08/2019 17:42

Thanks Inforapenny65 fortunately my blood pressure is low but I will do x

My patch has developed a bit of a crease but is still stuck on, just not 100% coverage.

My GP also said to get BP tested at 3 months (or was it 6 weeks? Brain fog, haven’t a clue now) and wouldn’t let me start them until I got a good BP, had to borrow a monitor for a week to get an average as always too high at the surgery.

Daddylonglegs1965 · 10/08/2019 19:07

Thanks ChoccyJules DH has a blood pressure monitor will get him to dig it out.

I’ve just started this, everol 50/conti.

on 4th patch since starting for my summer holiday- only 1 patch fell off as it had creased.

I’m a swimmer, so I place them on my lower back and they aren’t seen and stay on under my suit.

I’m not sure it’s working for though. I wake up frequently, can’t sleep and am drenched in sweat at points overnight - I think I can go up in dose.

I also feel like a bomb had gone off in my life, although that may be due to a house visitor we have had that’s akin to a dementor. I’m going to give it a couple of days, when there will be no joy sucked from my life, switch to the 50 patch and see if things settle, but I’m really struggling atm :(

Before This I was on femiston and that was amazing to begin with but then stopped working.

ChoccyJules · 14/08/2019 13:19

Am on my second patch, not really noticed anything yet, maybe a brighter mood in general.

This one is under my knicker elastic, so lower back/top of bum. Sticking better. Top of my thigh still red and a bit sore from the first one, clearly not the place for them.

Am plodding on in the hope they don’t run out soon, been a bit worried about starting them given the forecast of low supplies nationally.

Egghead68 · 14/08/2019 13:24

I am a total HRT sceptic but I have to say mine worked amazingly from day 2 with no side-effects except some localised itching with the first patch and a couple of days of low mood after 10 days or so. Virtually no hot flushes, insomnia and brain fog 90% better, breathing seems to be possibly better too (have asthma), no side-effects. On 4th patch now.

Daddylonglegs1965 · 14/08/2019 13:59

Not sure if mines working properly (used since Fri night on 3rd patch with the first one falling off). The patch is still in place but seems loose round the edges I don’t know whether that’s usual.
However, on day 2 I woke up totally in the mood for sex (which I haven’t felt like initiating for years).
Will see how I get on but will be gutted if they work & I cant get hold of any with the shortages.

Egghead68 · 14/08/2019 14:17

Oh yes - forgot to say they massively increased my libido but that seems to be dropping off slightly now (thank goodness).

Daddylonglegs1965 · 14/08/2019 14:31

@egghead68 think DH was hoping and thinking that was the new me.

I use Evorel 100 patches, had issues with them not sticking at first, but find if I warm them before I take them out the packet they stick better, have to scratch the dirty ring of glue off when I change them.

FoldyRoll · 15/08/2019 00:22

Baby oil or an oil based eye make up remover will get the dirty tide mark off.

What do we reckon about the likelihood of Evorel shortages after a no deal Brexit? There have already been extended shortages of other brands, and much as we rely on HRT it won't be classed as lifesaving drugs. I'm wondering whether to leave each patch on for 5 or 6 days instead of 3 or 4 to eke them out and build up a buffer amount by getting prescriptions at the normal time.
Have any of you considered doing similar or am I being utterly tin foil hatted?

Kummerspeck · 15/08/2019 00:43

@FoldyRoll . Not sure what the future will bring but these shortages are nothing to do with Brexit.

There have been changes in manufacturing laws in China, where quite a lot of the raw materials used in medicines are made, and that has slowed down their supply, which in turn has slowed down the production of various medicines.
There was also a change in EU law, The Falsified Medicines Directive, so manufacturers have had to re-jig their assembly lines to accommodate packaging changes.
A general increase in demand for HRT has contributed as women are more aware of menopause and the benefits of HRT.
One of the patch manufacturers withdrew their patches while they reformulate the glue, this led to a knock on in demand for other brands that were not able to keep up.
Medicines shortages are affecting countries worldwide, pharmacists groups are reporting issues of all kinds of meds from other parts of Europe, Australia, NZ, USA and all over

FoldyRoll · 15/08/2019 01:08

Thanks Kummer. That's reassuring (if not good) to hear.
