Palpitations

I've posted a long time ago about this but felt I needed to again.
I'm in peri at 43 and have been having palpitations for 4 or 5 years. They dont last long, generally 1 or 2 every so often but they really do scare me. I've had ecgs and echo cardiagrams in the past and only thing that shows up is mitral valve regurgitation and slight thickening which the consultant wasnt worried about and said he would scan me in 2 years.
What do your palpitations feel like and how often do you have them? I'm struggling at the moment with wondering if its meno related or on the verge of a heart attack which is probably over thinking.
Thanks

I have a MVP ( prolapsed mitral valve) I have slight regurgitation, but I think it’s on another valve.
I have been plagued with palpitations for as long as I can remember, I was told by cardiologist that more common with valve issues.
They got a whole lot worse when I was peri, GP thought they were hormonal and since starting HRT they have reduced greatly.
I also take 25 mg, so small dose, Betablocker that was prescribed several years ago by cardiologist when I complained about the palpitations.

My heart feels like it’s racing away but regular, only last for about a minute, but yes they can be frightening.
Both my teen daughter and son get them too, my daughter has mild aortic valve regurgitation along with another heart defect.

Thanks both.
Nice to hear from you, cant sleep. Just finishing my period and very unsettled. Another symptom I've had in peri. My consultant said it wouldn't cause palps but I'm not so sure, they've certainly got worse since I've been perimenopausal.

Sorry just realised the comments are from the same person.
Can I ask you? Have you been told that palpitations are dangerous or ok to experience? I try to ignore them

I had them, although with no underlying issues. Meditation helped a bit but big doses of magnesium made them go for good.

Not sure if mine is age or hormone related (possibly both!) but I found instant coffee, a few ground coffees and caffeine drinks all gave me palpitations, as I get older seem to becoming more sensitive to caffeine generally, and strong 'builders' tea also makes my heart race. At home I grind coffee beans (pain ITA) but at least I know it won't cause palpations, sorry probably not very helpfulBrewBlush

I have palpitations all the time, always have. They are very common and rarely a cause for concern.

Thanks all, really appreciate you all taking a moment to reply. I seem to get more at bedtime

I get them more and more from alcohol.
