Estrogel and ustrogen

I've just started taking estrogel and ustrogen on Sunday, following the instructions and taking them both at the same time at night as directed before staring I was taking clonadine for hot flushes but since staring the HRT my flushes seem to be more frequent and worse has anyone else had this and does anyone know how long before it starts to work.

It's Utrogestan :)

You have to give any HRT at least 12 weeks to work fully.

It's not an instant fix like taking a pain killer.

You might get some improvement after a couple of weeks.

Are you using the starting dose of 2 pumps of gel? Are you 1 year post menopause, which is the starting point for continuous HRT- Utrogestan daily?

@JinglingHellsBells - are you sure about that? Many women are prescribed gel and Utrogestan whilst still in peri menopause - however erratic. Whether the Utrogestan is taken as a 100mg doze for 25 days out of 28 or as a 200mg doze for 12 days out of 28 is simply down to preference.

You can also be started on 1 pump of gel per day. Stating that 2 pumps is a standard starting point is not correct. I do agree with your point that HRT in whatever form takes time to settle in.

OP - give it time. Keep the communication going between yourself and your GP or menopause specialist and keep a note of symptoms and ease (or not) of those as you progress through your first few months. Good luck. I'm sure you'll start feeling better soon.

@Namaste6

Can assure you all of the above is correct. Used it for 11 years.

@Nanaste^
You misread.
I said continuous regime is for women post menopause. That's using Utrogestan daily ( or 25 days a cycle.)
Women who are not post menopausal use it for a few days each cycle- usually 12 or 14 days.

Read the leaflet if you use it yourself- it says the starting dose is 2 pumps but of course consultants may advise on using less to being with (which mine did- I worked up from 1 pump to 2 over a few weeks.)

@Namaste6

This is a helpful piece of info here on the dosage and regimes of Utrogestan.

Are you using it yourself, out of interest? If so, which regime?
Who advised you it was up to the woman?

It's up to the woman which regime they use if they are post meno as long as their dr agrees, (I use it cyclically even though post meno but few GPs would suggest this) but women who are not post meno can find a conti regime gives them breakthrough bleeds.
