HRT

I've been thinking about going on HRT. Mainly because of the night sweats and the hot flushes during the day.

However a friend of mine is convinced her mothers cancer was caused by HRT and that puts me off taking it. Then my mum had a hysterectomy and went straight on to HRT and has had no cancer scares at all so thinks I'm worrying about nothing.

I just wondered what others experience has been with HRT.

Good. No night sweats, improved mood and no cancer so far!

@Diaryofawimpymumm
you are on a learning curve.

Read, read , read about HRT risks and benefits. There is far too much to discuss here, but if you read websites like Menopause Matters (especially the blogs by Dr Currie) and the website My Menopause Dr, you will find out a lot.

As a by the way, no one can ever say or prove HRT caused their cancer. In fact the biggest risks for BC are being overweight, inactive, smoking, poor diet and alcohol.

HRt comes bottom of the list as a risk factor.

This is my main concern too!
Hrt is a lifesaver for me and I don’t think that I will ever stop taking it. It makes a huge difference at the quality of my life.
As Bells says hrt is considered safer regarding other risks factors for cancer.

Thank you! I'll do some more reading up on it. I recorded a documentary on it and watched that and it said much the same about lifestyle factors being more at risk of cancer.

I'm taking sage leaf just now and another herbal remedy called menopause and when I ran out the night sweats were unbearable.

My blood pressure was a little high so I've been doing everything I can to lower it including losing 2 stone in weight so will see what the doctor thinks when I have my next appointment
