Do you like it? Better than pills? How do you take the progesterone part? Do you get it privately or on the nhs?

If you only want posters who have this on the NHS I can't help.
Why does NHS v private matter? have you been refused it?

Are you on it?

I am using it and have been for 11 years but privately. I love it. it's easy to use and change the dose to find the right level.

I have an individualised regime with Utrogestan which is using is on a slightly longer cycle. I know women who do this who are not using it through a private dr but they have agreed it with their GP and got consent and monitoring.

Does this help?

I used to have it prescribed on the NHS. I couldn't tolerate the side effects of the patches.

Whether you'll be able to get it or not depends on the prescribing guidelines for your CCG. Have you tried patches etc?

Yes. NHS Scotland. I have a Mirena coil for The progesterone and then rub gel into my arm / leg twice a day.

There was a brilliant poster on here who helped and it had to be OKed by a gynaecologist (I didn't see one but the GP wanted reassurance). I have been on it for about 4 years now. Fabulous stuff.

I also vary the dosage so I am using as little as I can get away with. HTH.

Sorry!! Title should read ON the nhs not IN!

I have sandrena gel and progesterone, prescribed privately. So far I haven’t seen much change, but it’s only been a week or so!
If there isn’t a medical reason why you can’t have HRT, then there’s no reason why the GP shouldn’t prescribe. To be honest, the lowest dose, really is a low dose, so can’t or work out why some women would be refused it, but that’s another story!

@Fibbke Have you asked for it? I know women using it for 12 years via the NHS . why do you think you can't get it?

Fibbke · 14/07/2019 16:58

Haven't asked yet but going in this week and want to get ducks in a row. Gp just looks on a screen, has no idea, and will basically do what i say!

I got Oestrogel prescribed although was told by GP that the practice only prescribed patches or tablets, but because I had a reaction to the adhesive in the patches and can’t take tablets as on BP medication she relented.

I have a Mirena coil and put Oesteodose on my arms once a day. Prescribed by GP who has a special interest in the menopause. She said it was the safest way to take HRT.

Aroundtheworldandback · 14/07/2019 21:50

My private consultant initially prescribed 5 years ago and I took it to my nhs gp who converted it into an nhs prescription.

It helps with hot flushes but not with my sleep.
