There is a strong history of female cancers on my mums side of the family. Breast, Ovarian and mainly Womb cancer, including my mum, nan and my nans 2 sisters.
Dr has advised me that I would be increasing my risk of these cancers further if I take HRT. I'm in peri - menopause now but still having regular periods.

So I'm thinking of trying to do it naturally. I've researched sage leaf and red clover supplements. Is there anything else anyone is taking that helps?

If I were you, I'd see a specialist who is an expert in meno and HRT.

What I have seen quoted by meno specialists is it's your own medical history that counts OR in the case of female cancers, two close relatives (mum and sister) who has BC before 40 (ie at a young age.)

Other family history is not regarded as relevant (many of us wouldn't know about them anyway.)

For example, you can pretty much negate the risk of endometrial cancer by using a Mirena coil as part of HRT.

It's too simplistic just to look at your family history. Science has moved on, HRT is more personalised, more choices on the type, so I think you need to pursue with an expert.

If you want to go down the herbal route, be aware that natural does not equal safe- many herbs are for short term use and come with risks o f liver disease and also the same risks as prescribed HRT if they have the same effect as estrogen.

Thanks.
I saw a gynaecologist last year, tried the Mirena, made periods worse so had it removed.
Will keep researching
