I have been investigated for peri-menopause, my GP has agreed I am likely going though this. I have been to hospital for a hysteroscopy and am waiting for the results.

During my period I flood. This is a relatively new thing, although I have always been heavy. I can literally soak though a night-time towel and have blood running down my legs.

However I have started to "wet myself" during my period. It doesn't happen when I don't have my period. I don't feel the need to wee or the sensation of weeing. I just feel wet as if I have flooded, but when going to the loo to clean myself up there is no blood. I feel like I am going mad. Please tell me it's not just me.

Hi no you're not going mad, incontinence, stress incontinence and frequent urination are very common in peri and menopause is s one of those things that no one warn s you about or talks about but definitely happens to many women. It's hormonal, no one tells you the impact of dwindling and fluctuating hormones can have massive effects on all kind of bodily functions.
The answer is to stabilise hormones either through hrt or contraception if you are younger, maybe talk about this with your GP and also ask for a urologist referral too.

See your GP and ask for a referral to a women's physio and/ or look online for the right way to do exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor (try googling Elaine Miller, women's physio.)

You need to do these 'lifts and squeezes' 30 x a day ( 3 x 10 )

Then see your GP also about a referral and maybe using vaginal estrogen to help strengthen the tissues round your bladder.

Thanks Rosie and Jingling for the reassurance! I'll speak to my GP about it. I'm so glad to hear it's one of those bloody menopausal things.
