Prescription quantities for HRT

I’ve been prescribed Estrogel and Utrogestan.

The prescription was for one tube of gel (64 pumps - so a month supply) and two boxes of Utrogestan (30 per box - so 2.5 months supply).

Would I be able to ask for more than one tube of gel on the next prescription or do I have to request one each month? If there were 2 or 3 tubes on one prescription wouldn’t that be just one prescription charge for all the gel and one for all the Utrogestan?

The original prescription was 2 lots of charges as one for a tube of gel and one for the tablets.

I get 3 mths supply, so 3 boxes of Utrogestan & 6 bottles of gel, because I use 4 pumps a day. Although I’ll be having a hormone test to see what my levels are soon.
I’m answer to your question, the GP’s got it wrong. Ring them tomorrow & explain what’s happened & maybe ask the chemist for their advice?

I use 3 pumps of Estogel a day and get 2 bottles per prescription so lasts six weeks, I also use Vagifem and Ovestin and it always feels like I am requesting prescriptions, I wish they allowed me more at a time.

I'm pretty sure you can get 6 months at a time. The rule is you need an annual review of HRT face to face, to check everything's okay and review use. You can't get away from the cost. I pay for my own as it's private, and it's roughly the same cost as an NHS prescription. I don't consider it expensive to be honest, relatively. Mine works out at around £12 a month, (gel and Utrogestan) £3 a week. Worth every penny.
